West Ham, as far as I can remember, has never finished in the top half of the top flight of English football three seasons in a row.
Feels like we will under Moyes. That’s real progress. There’ll be bumps along the way, I’m sure. Moyes’ trophy cupboard may remain bare, but the West Ham cupboard is hardly overflowing, is it?
We are not a successful club, let’s face the facts. Our managers since 1989, with the exception of Moyes and Curbs, have either been clowns or have had incentives which were misaligned with those of us fans (which is code for Harry Redknapp, basically).
Moyes has transformed our fortunes. The danger is that our expectations overtake the reality of what’s possible to achieve over the two years since he’s been back. Patience is a virtue.
Judging by some of the comments I read on here after each game we play that doesn’t result in a win, some people have more patience than others.
I”m happy for David Moyes to be given all the time he needs, and I’m going to carry on believing in a manager that was so good at Everton that the greatest British manager of all time thought he would do a job at one of the biggest football clubs in the world: a club where the expectations of the fans are justifiably very high indeed.
