Moyes thrilled with Mikey

David Moyes was delighted with the performance of Mikey Antonio against Wolves.

The striker was a constant thorn in the side of the away side’s defence and set up Tomas Soucek’s winning goal.

The Jamaica international linked well with Aaron Cresswell down the left flank and managed to steer a cross into the box for Soucek, who prodded it beyond goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Mikey has, of course, been struggling for goals and has not scored since the New Year’s Day win over Crystal Palace.

He did lay on an assist against Leeds in January, though, and has now added another after the Hammers’ excellent win over Wolves.

And Moyes was thrilled with his performance, telling BBC Sport“He was really good, he got himself more chances and the goalkeeper made a good save from him in the first half. I thought he did a good job for the team.”

The Hammers face a busy week as they are set to play Southampton in the FA Cup in midweek before taking on Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend, so managing Mikey’s minutes will be key.
