The £8 million signing fell out of favour quickly at the Hammers under Slaven Bilic but has played 18 times for Aston Villa on loan scoring three goals along the way.

And his fellow Scot, Moyes, is understood to be keen to take a good look at a player he knows well in pre-season before deciding whether his move away from the club should be made permanent.

Snodgrass has played a big part in Villa’s surge into the play-off places after their difficult start to the season and the midlanders will be keen to sign the Hammers winger if they can get a decent price.

But Moyes will make no quick decisions on the player who has despite some difficult publicity at the Hammers remains contracted to us until 2020.
