Moyes transfer window plan may change

David Moyes is keep his transfer window powder dry until he sees how much progress is made by Kurt Zouma.

As revealed by Claretandhugh last week the central defender is making much faster progress from his knee injury than was expected.

And as a result Moyes has put his window plans on hold although currently he is still seeing a defender as his main priority.

With Zouma, Cresswell and Ogbonna all side lined it goes without saying that the back line is an area of major concern which is why the Zouma situation is critical.

We reported last week that the former Chelsea man was on the mend far quicker than anyone expected and the usually cautious Moyes has now delivered confirmation.

All he had said until after today (Sat) was that he had his eyes on a player whom he couldn’t bring in this winter because his club wanted him until the end of the season.

But in his presser following the 3-2 win over Palace at Selhurst Park he declared: A defender is in our priorities but if we get Kurt back that might alter it.”

  1. I think we need Kurt plus a new defender.

  2. We need cover at centre back left side either from Kurt, the U23’s or a signing. But I still believe our big problem is playing Masuaku at left back. His defensive positioning and challenging is so woeful that we are wide open down that channel. To compound that, the left side c/b is being drawn over to cover, leaving a gap behind so a good cross from their right bypasses our c/b, (Diop). Today that was compounded by Diop then challenging out there and giving a bad free kick. The root of the problem is Masuaku, and could cost us four league places end of season IMO.

  3. We’ve been told Zouma will not be back until, at least, the end of January and Oggy not this season. Even if Zouma is back that soon who knows if he may break down again? We saw again today that Dawson and Diop are not the answer. As Moyes clearly doesn’t think the youngsters are ready for the step up it only leaves Rice to drop into the back four. Personally, I think that would be detrimental to the team’s performance. Therefore I cannot see any other choice than getting in another centre back. Or am I missing something?

  4. If we dont get another centre back SOON very big mistake. Dithering through Januay will be disasterous.
