Moyes undecided on back up striker

|

David Moyes is still undecided on whether to bring in a backup striker before the winter transfer window which closes on Monday.

He has seen bids for Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri fail with the Spanish club unwilling to sell.

Two other bids for strikers were also turned down during January as well as numerous enquires equally rebuffed by clubs unwilling to part with their best players during the pandemic.

The manager is continuing to review foreign loan options including the possibility  of bringing RB Leipzig striker Hee-Chan Hwang on loan from Germany.

Moyes only wants to sign players who  can bring further quality to the team and if he believes he can’t do that he will use Andriy Yarmolenko as make-shift back-up striker as he did against Doncaster Rovers.

He also has Academy options of Dapo Afolayan and Mipo Odubeko at his disposal if needed and has made it clear he will look to Academy player if he needs to.

Sorry we need a player who can play up top or out wide, the Leipsig player looks the real deal and he has played up top and also play wide in a front 3. He is the perfect signing and ok bring him in on loan with option to buy but for me his signing could be the key. I don’t see what Lindgard will bring to us and he certainly will not bring any more quality to the team that what we have already so I really hope he does not sign for us. I am shocked we have not considered a CM signing.

I’d be undecided about buying a striker that :

a, Doesn’t want to be a back up to Antonio.
b, Doesn’t play as a lone striker for his club now.
    c, Has little pace.

Actually Im not undecided, I dont want anyone that has any of those traits.

This is soul destroying..how on earth can you be undecided when we have 1 striker …if hes not careful he will mess up all his great work ..if we don’t get one and straight away Antonio gets injured for a couple months, were does that leave us ..why on earth would you want to gamble like that ..its absolutely crazy

I’m not that worried, there are options.
Yarmolenko gives one option but also the two young fellas coming up from the U23’s.
The side is playing so well right now that give any of these three a run in the side as striker they will get plenty of opportunities to score, in the words of DM (David Moyes not Danger Mouse), “scoring, it’s what they do”. OK a little bit of artistic licence in that quote.
Rooney was 16 when he made his debut, how old was Michael Owen?
In a side playing well, these guys will get opportunities and I think they’ll bury more than a few of them.
