Moyes update on central defenders

David Moyes has dropped a huge update on the injured trio of Kurt Zouma, Issa Diop, and Craig Dawson.

The Hammers are playing Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday in the Europa League and we reported last night that Zouma is actually nearing a return.

And Moyes has now revealed that the entire trio are now back in training, doing a variety of work on their fitness.

Ogbonna, though, faces an uphill battle to be fit before the end of the season, having sustained an ACL injury during the clash with Liverpool last year.

Zouma was injured against Brentford, while we have also previously reported that there were fears that Diop would miss the remainder of the campaign, too, although he is said to be progressing well by the manager.

Speaking ahead of the Europa League clash with Frankfurt, as transcribed by the club’s official website, the manager issued the following update on the defenders: “Angelo Ogbonna’s back – when I say ‘back’, I mean back in the building. He only came back this week so I would be amazed if Angelo played before the end of the season.

“Kurt Zouma is back doing some light work. He is ahead of schedule which is really good.

“Issa Diop is actually doing quite well as well. He feels a little better than we first hoped, so there’s a bit of positivity around all those players. Because of that, it’s given us a perk up because it won’t be quite as long as we thought it might be.”
