The club are keen to ensure that the fans get a chance to celebrate ahead of the first game of the season and as things stand the celebration is going ahead.
But Moyes is clearly unhappy with the idea and insisting that we move on from that famous night in Prague given we have an important match in front of us and one on which we should be fully focused.
One can understand it from that point of view and of course one other!
Should there be an almighty celebration followed by a defeat – despite us having a decent record against the Blues at home – it could all be entirely embarrassing for the manager.
He is certainly correct in claiming we must move on but those who have not had the chance to celebrate the victory will be denied the perfect opportunity if it is called off.
Moyes commented: “To win in Europe you have to play different teams from different countries and there is a lot of work and effort that goes into that.
“But I’m not sure if I am mad on the idea of a parade, because we have a game to play and we have to move on from it…
“We are still growing and trying to improve. We’d have liked to finish in a much higher league position, but we came out of last season with something that is important for us and our identity at West Ham. We are now on the map.”
Moyes is right.
There is a simple solution to this, do the Celebration part 30 minutes or an hour before the game, so that it has less of an effect on the mindset of the players getting into the zone to play.
