Moyes: “We are the new West Ham”

|

David Moyes handed out his verdict on today’s game and the current Irons team by declaring: “We are not the old West Ham anymore.”

The 1-0 win over Burnley saw the team gain it’s fourth clean sheet on the bounce – in West Ham terms a unique situation and one of which the manager and his backroom staff can be entirely proud.

The new Hammers are defensively as strong and well organised as we have ever seen with Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna calling the shots in the middle of teh back four

The Irons now remain remain unbeaten in five games since before Christmas in all competitions thanks to Michail Antonio’s early goal and a superb defensive display.

Now we need to go again in just three nights time when former boss Sam Allardyce comes to mix it with one of his big mates in the game – Moyes.

BFS grabbed a priceless win over Wolves in teh Black Country derby today and confidence will have been boosted for Tuesday’s game.

Moyes’ men are now up to eighth in the table and just three points off the top four ahead of Tuesday’s home game with West Bromwich Albion.

And speaking to West Ham TV the manager said: “We’re not the old West Ham any more, we’re the new West Ham and we’re going to try to become even better.

There’s so much more that we can do, and that we’d like to do, and hopefully we can show it.

It needs time and there will be periods when it’s not going so well. There’ll be periods when it is, but we’re certainly not settling for where we are.

We’re already told the players to get their heads on Tuesday night because we need another good performance.

Burnley have been tough for me wherever I’ve been and here we’ve had some poor days against them for different reasons, not just the football.

It was well-earned and hard-earned for the result today, because we needed some players to step up really well.

Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson both played very, very well today.

Great to see 3 young players on the bench as well. Can’t wait to see them perform. Suddenly we have options and are looking to add from a position of strength. Hughie can you nobble Snoddy before Tuesday mate?!!

we are still a circus until we get proper owners who actually are ambitious and does not see the club only as a golden cow.

Moyes is great but he should be backed properly. That is were the whole thing transforms to a circus. Dont twist my words. I’m behind the team and Moyes but GSB should leave.

Which of the top teams out there have ‘owners’ who couldn’t care less about the money? I’m behind the team and Moyes and the people that continue to give them and us the opportunities to dream whilst enjoying relatively good times.

To think we were supposed to be going to sign some big name foreign defender for thirty million then in comes Craig Dawson and wouldn’t you believe it, four clean sheets in a row. I can’t ever remember a West Ham team getting four clean sheets in a row. I’m sure we must have done in the past but I can’t remember it. Ogbonna and Dawson seem to have developed an outstanding partnership straight from the off. Who’d have thought it?

Surely another example Moyesie knowing better than the keyboard warriors and GSB about recruitment and how to run a football club, eh? Long may it continue.

Spot on ljd. Some on here think they know better than professional coaches who’ve been at the top level most of their careers. Makes me angry at times but usually it’s just funny. Then, when proved wrong again, they just go silent. Loved Dawson bullying Ashley Barnes yesterday. He’s normally doing the bullying and he didn’t know how to respond. The look on his face was priceless.

      • Jersey Hammer says:

Yes totally agree with both sets of comments – 100 %…we are clearly the true hammers lads!!!

  • Brian says:

Only seven points off the top fellers. Think we should go all out to sign Mason Mount before the window closes. I’m sure he’d rather come and play with his mate Declan than stay with those clowns at Chelsea. Think him and a back up striker are all we need to win the league.
