Moyes: “We need to make sure we punish them”

|

David Moyes and the West Ham squad will walk into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon entirely free of fear and with the manager declaring: ” We are in a really good place.”

Sadly the fans are not of course – instead we will all be watching via the box in the corner but with two great results behind us confidence is undoubtedly pretty high.

The two results against Wolves and Leicester City of course were achieved without the manager in the dug-out as he self isolated after proving test positive for covid-19.

But he was totally thrilled with the work carried out by his backroom team led by Alan Irvine as we strolled past the two midlands outfits.

Now it’s hat-trick time and he warns that we will need to be defensively bang on our game against an on fire Spurs but clearly believes we are in a position to do ourselves more than justice,

Talking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/17-october/david-moyes-were-really-good-place-moment-time he said: “I understand the abilities Gareth Bale has got and what he can do, but it would be wrong to think about him and not about Harry Kane or Son the way they’re playing at the moment, because they’re on fire.

The goals they’ve been scoring have been incredibly good so we’ll need to make sure we defend well, but we also need to make sure we punish them like we have done against the likes of Wolves and Leicester.

We’re going up against top teams, we know that, but I feel at the moment that we have a belief that we can play, we can challenge and we can score against them.

Our goal scoring record from lockdown to where we are now is terrific, with the threes and fours we’re scoring, so it’s not as if we’ve just done it once. We’re doing it quite regularly at the moment.

So, if we could become a much better defensive team then I think we’ve got lots of good attacking options to continue scoring goals, so I hope that continues.

The boys have been in really good form, so I don’t see why we need to alter too much. We’re in a really good place at this moment in time.”

Absolutely nothing wrong with being positive and optimistic . But west ham fans have been down this road more times than cows walking home for milking . Maybe , just maybe we can remain consistent for a change . A Win today would shoot us up the table , heck , even a draw would put distance in the table . We have enough to worry the spuds so let’s hope we do .
