So now comes the dreaded and unwanted – by many – international break- which could cause problems to us and other clubs competing at the top.
With the likes of Declan, Tomas, Vlad and Fab away on international duty we keep everything crossed as we worry about possible injuries.
A couple of those and trouble looms for West Ham United which frankly is far more important to me than international achievements or otherwise.
I dread the international break and have no really interest left in football at that level.
Caps are too easy to obtain – we have been unsuccessful for years and in this particular season we just don’t need the risks it involves to our guys.
Thankfully, the three we have mentioned – perhaps our most important three – have very good injury records so touch wood they will all be back safe and sound for the Wolves game.
Manager Moyes knows the dangers, however, and said: “It (the international break) gives us a chance to give them a bit of a break and a couple of days off. We’ll have those who aren’t going away to internationals working and we wish our international boys well.
The biggest thing is they come back from international duty injury-free, as that’s really the key for us as the international boys are so important to us.
We hope they’ll come back and be ready to play for us again in a couple of weeks’ time.”
I think it’s great we will have two West Ham players representing their country again and I’ll be cheering them on just as I did with Bobby and co.
