Moyes “would love” Bowen England call

David Moyes insists he would “love” for Jarrod Bowen to receive an England call-up after he continued his sparkling form with a destructive performance against Watford on Tuesday.

The Hammers winger laid on two assists and won a penalty as the Hammers beat the Hornets 4-1 to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Bowen could have had a goal, too, as he volleyed home at the back post but it was ruled out for a foul in the build-up from Tomas Soucek.

He has been exceptional throughout the season, scoring goals and registering assists, and Moyes believes that he is good enough to earn a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad, although he accepts that the competition for places is fierce.

Speaking to reporters, as per Football.London, after the clash at Vicarage Road, the Irons boss said: “I would love it for him but the competition, (Jadon) Sancho, (Mason) Greenwood, (Raheem) Sterling, (Marcus) Rashford, the level is high.

“It is probably where Jarrod has found it difficult, he has come from the championship and the biggest complement I can give him is people think he is a PL player, we want more goals and to keep up the assists.”

The Hammers will be back in action on New Year’s Day against Crystal Palace, trying to build on today’s performance.
