West Ham are still very much trying to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, although negotiations so far have received very little encouragement from the Serie A club.
Graham Potter is said to be keen on the former Manchester City and Aston Villa midfielder, who has struggled to impress since moving to Turin. The 27-year-old Brazilian is reportedly open to a return to the Premier League, and it seems West Ham and Everton are now in a two-horse race for his signature.
Unfortunately for the Hammers, David Moyes’ Everton appear to be in pole position—mainly because they actually have money to spend.
West Ham are still trying to arrange a loan deal with an option to buy, but Juventus are holding firm. The Italian side want guaranteed cash—either in the form of a straight permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy.
You do wonder if West Ham are simply waiting for Juve to get desperate enough to offload Luiz’s £150k-a-week wages that they eventually cave. All well and good, I suppose—right up until the moment Moyes’ Toffees come in with a serious transfer offer that actually appeals to the Italians.
At that point, it could be too late.
Gonzo – do you seriously believe we’ll get him? This “interest” is just to save face, our midfield rebuild will be giving Soucek the 10 shirt, signing Brownhill and sending out the youngsters on loan again to trim down the squad.
And then when Potter gets the boot before Christmas, Sullivan will blame everyone else at the club and all of a sudden he’ll back a Salthouse or Silkman client as manager and give them £100m to spend in January. Wonder who he’ll blame when we get relegated and can’t afford to pay the bank back in the Championship.
but your source from this exact website denied any interest in him at all?
Can’t afford him unless he is cheap. That is where the years of mismanagement have got us. Would like to know if we are planning on buying any midfielders or strikers apart from cheap injury prone cast offs.
Moyes has money to spend and they also have a brand new state of the art dedicated football stadium.
O
If he’s got any sense he’ll go to Everton
We are always playing the waiting game Waiting for the window to shut so we dont have to spend any money No point going down this road anymore W Ham because you’ve knocked the stuffing out of the fans No ambition and taken the heart out of the club
