Moyesie’s Nobes verdict

David Moyes was delighted with Mark Noble after he captained the Hammers to a thumping 4-1 win over Watford on Tuesday.

The midfielder was restored to the starting XI because of Declan Rice’s suspension for picking up five yellow cards.

And Noble was exceptional in his role, even scoring a penalty after Jarrod Bowen was brought down in the penalty area by Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

He continually moved the ball well and his passes were routinely excellent, too, as he helped the Irons dominate the midfield battle.

And Moyes was so impressed with his performance against the Hornets as the Irons returned to winning ways in style.

Speaking after the game, as per Football.London, Moyes said: “He gave me the performance and leadership I hoped and wanted from him.

“He handles it no problem and overall he was as good as anybody on the pitch today with how he performed and led the team.”

Nobes had not actually played in the Premier League since coming on as a substitute to take that fateful penalty against Manchester United earlier this season, although he has been a regular in the Europa League.
