David Moyes has indicated there will be absolutely no panic buying as the window closes in on its last three weeks.
Whilst admitting he hadn’t planned for Seb Haller’s departure, he is obviously too long in the tooth to go for whoever may be available -wanting only those who will improve the squad.
The manager admits it is a risk to only rely on Michail Antonio for the remainder of the season but says he has options with Said Benrahma and Andriy Yarmolenko upfront if required.
While he accepts that failure to bring in a new striker for cover is not the best way forward he has made it clear he would nonetheless stick with the players he has rather than spend for the sake of it.
Moyes often gives the impression that he treats the transfer budget as if he is spending his own money – an attitude bound to split opinions.
Moyes is absolutely no mug and splashing the cash with abandon is not the answer. If the player that Moyes thinks is right for us isn’t out there right now, then don’t buy. DM is building for the future at our club and it can’t be done overnight, much as we all long for success. Let’s trust Moyes to do the best thing for WHU.
Well said Hammerian. & Ossie & Hammerpete & Cat & Iniesta. In David Moyes we trust. His words as reported above are confidence inspiring and seem to describe a perfect attitude.

Prudence is no bad thing. If DM had the £70++ mill spent on Haller and Anderson , he would have more than likely found 4 or 5 premiership quality players. Big bucks doesn’t always deliver the goods, ask Lampard. For me I am totally behind DM’s recruitment approach. We are not a club that can buy success, so we need the prudent approach plus quality scouting.
Spot on.

Well said Ossie!! No panic, trust the managers judgement. Besides, Yarmo is an international goal scoring forward with good control – try him!! False nine? Why not Bowen? Use our options!
I’m hoping Odubeko gets some minutes tomorrow as he could provide an additional option if he impresses. Hoping this is one Moyes is keeping up his sleeve.
Spurs brought on a 16 year old who did well today away at non-league opposition so no reason not to.
