Moysie rated on Villa performance

|

He got everything right and now perhaps a few of those who don’t want to believe what he says for their own reasons will shut up.

He said he was no yes man and would not buy a striker who wouldn’t improve the team or any other for the sake of it.

Instead he brought in Jesse Lingard and found himself criticised for it by those who begged him for a striker – any striker. How right he was on this display and how wrong were they?

Lingard is not a striker yet scored two on his debut after a season of inaction. That’s quality – and that’s managerial brilliance.

The move to bring in Fredericks as an addition to Couval in doubling up on Grealish was another major success.

And the third was to see the likes of Soucek and Rice getting better and better together but it was the new Lingard/Benrahma relationship which promises so much for the future.

The manager got everything spot on and therefore we have to give him a perfect rating.

Moyes rating 10

Moyes and team were spot on, signing Lingard if continues that form will be a master stroke am gutted we don’t have an option to sign permanently!!! Hopefully against lesser teams he will as Moyes suggested help us pick the lock more frequently, we had 18 shots I think last night, manny on target which is tremendous against a quality side.

Thrilled, just fabulous. Firstly, back 3/5 was clearly required after Liverpool, and Fredericks/Coufal was a masterclass of tactics. We didn’t know how match fit Lingard is, but DM obviously did. Bowen and Forrnals needed a rest, bit the understanding between Lingard and Benrahma was a mighty boost. DM – take a bow Boss!

Putting Fredericks in front of Coufals was brilliant. Grealish looked like someone had taken his candy. If we had adjusted to Grealish switching sides, Fabianski would have had a clean sheet.

Here’s hoping the moan brigade swallow the pill and STFU for a while. Fantastic performance, masterclass tactically, front 3 were always a threat, Lingard was class from start to finish and added pace to everything, Soucek is probably one of the best centre mids in the prem and Coufal is an absolute machine. So much to be positive about. Who needs an out and out striker when you have a front 3 playing like that and a goal scoring midfielder in Soucek.
To the moaners, and you only have to review the comments on Sean’s transfer window summary to see who they are, jog on and support another club. Your negativity is not wanted and not at all justified

Safe before the end of February – the stuff of dreams. Well done Wee Davey and the boys. The part played by the owners, Alan, Paul, Kevin, Stuart & Co. should not be underestimated and well done everyone.

Yep, a master stroke by the gaffer tonight. To a man, the team was great but special mention to Cress, Coufal and Lingard. Incredible

  • Vince says:

I was disappointed with the lack of self belief against Liverpool, but tonight was sheer brilliance on Moyes’ part.

  • Mikey says:

Totally agree. We have a serious manager, at last, after all the wanna-be’s.

  • William Burton says:

Tactically astute tonight and Moyes and his backroom staff are well worthy of 10/10.
Posted on another site that there were MOTM

  • Alan says:

Brilliant tactics from Moyes tonight and a great team performance!

There was me wondering why we signed Lingard, shows what I know! What a debut!

    • GaryD says:

Me too. I love it when I am so wrong. Wasn’t sure where he would fit. He fits wherever he wants.
