Nani joins Lanzini’s parent club

|

gianlucananiLanzini’s parent club Al Jazira has recruited former West Ham technical director Gianluca Nani as their new sports director today.

Officials at the Abu Dhabi club did not reveal much details but said he would begin work immediately.

Jazira parted ways with their returning coach Abel Braga last week and Ali Khamis Al Junaibi, the club’s Under 23 coach, has been appointed as caretaker until a new manager arrives.

Nani was fired by new owners David Sullivan and David Gold in 2010, the Italian was brought in to assist Alan Curbishley in the summer of 2008, with his main role being that of chief scout. His salary of £300,000 was considered surplus to requirements by the new joint owners.

Whether this news has any impact on the deal to sign Lanzini on a permanent transfer at the end of the season  from Al Jazira remains to be seen. Let’s hope Nani doesn’t let any personal feelings come in the way of  a deal which is said to have already been agreed between the two clubs.
