A report that the West Ham board have earmarked Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri as the man they want to replace Slaven Bilic appears to be very wide of the mark. The Sunday Express claims the 58-year-old who replaced Benitez at the Italian club is being lined up as a possible replacement for the West Ham Croatian manager.
Sarri has another two years left to run on his Napoli contract but has a buy out clause of around £7.5 million should another club want him.
Gold and Sullivan are known to stick by their managers rarely paying compensation to sack them early or compensation to another club to land another manager. Claret and Hugh understands that no alternative managers have been lined up at this stage and there is no-one waiting in the wings in case Slaven Bilic fails to turn around West Ham’s fortunes in the near future.
