David Gold s looking for another Andy Carroll super show tonight but admits – like others – there was a moment when he feared for the striker’s future.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh he said: “I remember – because I was in New Zealand with the squad at the time when he was injured in pre-season and we had to put him on a flight to America to see a top specialist the very next day. -I wondered where it was going to end.

Carroll1“You realised he was injury prone at that time and you wondered and remembered Dean Ashton so it’s fantastic to see him as he is now and Saturday against Arsenal was brilliant…quite brilliant.

“I have always been a believer in Andy. I would like to think I’ve always stood beside him and I want to see him really turn it on again this evening and regularly for West Ham.

“The man has battled his way back heroically and if he does it again tonight how fantastic would that be.”

DG admits however, that he is as nervous as he has”been in recent years” as we approach and stand 90 minutes (hopefully) from Wembley.

He said: “Of course there are tremendous nerves and I also feel so annoyed at the decisions we have been getting – or perhaps I should say, not getting.

But they say that what goes around comes around. Well, our time is here. it’s due and we want Wembey so badly it hurts!”

It must have been so hard for Carroll. Inury, return, injury, the fans that wanted rid of him & dealing with his own frustration, but the club & many supporters knew his potential & so did he. He is one of the best strikers in the world & unstoppable on his day. It will be a pleasure to watch him play out the rest of his career at the top, which is where we are headed & Carroll will be a significant part in that. This will be a story with a happy ending, it just seems to be shaping up that way.

Carroll now has the world at his feet, playing with the most creative players around in a team on form, now he should fill his boots and start to build his career,
His manager has given him great advice and is backing him by playing him.
Payet said when he joined us he could not wait to build a playing relationship with AC,
Plus he has Lanzini Antonio and Cresswell delivering great balls in the area to attack,
Now he comes up against another poor defence
This is your momement to prove to us it has been worth the wait,
