Gary Neville is back in Hammers-bashing mode by claiming the club’s top three players aren’t at the level required to play for a truly top side.

After some half swipes at Declan Rice over recent weeks the Sky Sports pundit has again turned his attention to the Hammers suggesting they are not yet of top quality.

West Ham United v Norwich City - Premier League

But he made it clear that he doesn’t believe they are good enough to perform at the very highest level saying: “You look at Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Sebastien Haller and you can feel that the atmosphere will be hostile for Man United on Sunday.

The reason those players are at West Ham is because they have quality, but they can’t play at the highest level. However, they can play in those one-off games – they can play in moments in matches, and that makes West Ham really dangerous against Man United.”

However, let’s be clear about this,  in terms of condescension and probably inaccuracy in the case of Haller, it doesn’t get a lot worse than that given that.

The striker only appeared this season and has shown himself to be up for it scoring three goals as the Hammers have gone unbeaten in five. Far too early to make comments about him only being up for a certain kind of game surely.

Anderson has been outstanding at times, notably against Norwich City whilst Lanzini has looked business most of the time during an encouraging start.

Meanwhile Manchester United, have collected the same eight points as the Irons and themselves are themselves showing clearly they too can probably be considered a less than top club
