Alphonse Areola is set to get his first chance at West Ham when the Hammers meet Manchester United in next week’s EFL Cup clash.
The French goalkeeper arrived on loan from PSG in the summer transfer window.
He has yet to make his debut but is set to play against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side next week when David Moyes’ men start their cup run.
Some fans were surprised that Lukasz Fabianski played against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday, with Areola seemingly signed as a rotation option for the Poland international.
We know that boss David Moyes is unlikely to rotate a winning team after the Hammers ran out 2-0 victors in Croatia.
But he simply must give the ex-Fulham goalkeeper the chance to prove his worth as West Ham do have the option to sign him on a permanent deal come the summer transfer window.
That is set to start against Solskjaer’s men in the EFL Cup and he will be hoping to make a real impression.
