New club in chase for Hammers target

Nice have entered the race to sign Jesse Lingard, according to a new report in France.

The Manchester United playmaker has been at the centre of a constant transfer saga throughout the January window, with both the Hammers and Newcastle heavily linked with potential moves.

It remains to be seen if Lingard will be allowed to leave United before the end of the window or if he would like to, as his contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he will be available for nothing.

But a new report from Foot Mercato claims that Nice are now considering a late swoop prior to next week’s transfer deadline.

The report says that the Ligue 1 club have admired Lingard for some time and also considered a move in the summer, before scotching that plan.

Any deal would come down to whether Nice can make the finances work, but it is another chapter in what is becoming an utterly tired saga.
