New deal on cards for Nobes

|

Mark Noble is set for a new contract offer over the next few weeks or early in the summer.

The captain remains very much a part of the first-team squad and we understand has no plans to pull the curtain down on his illustrious Hammers career just yet.

His current contract runs out in June and the club are preparing new one which could extend his playing career for the club up to the age of 36.

It seems likely the deal will include the usual appearances clauses although whether he gets an increase on his basic will be up for negotiation.

It means that at the end of his new deal he will been a member of the Hammers squad since 2004 and has appeared at every level for England other than full international.

He has made over 450 appearances for the club ad been Hammers of the Year twice besides voted the Hammers of the decade at the end of the 2010s.

New contract? Yes – he deserves it for his loyalty, passion, knowledge of the club etc … but in a coaching role (and maybe the Cup squads) only. Under absolutely NO circumstances should he be included in either the Premier (or Europe if we get there) squads as he simply isn’t good enough any more. Sad but true. I have the greatest respect for Nobes and would hate to lose him from our club as he still has so much to offer … he needs to be involved at the youth level imparting what it means to be a member of the West Ham family, making sure they acquire the same professionalism and duty to the cause he has always shown.

One year max, but definitely get him on coaching side in the academy within a couple of years to attract the best talent and nurture the youngsters.
Too many times this club has given out contracts to dead money.
Tell me another club in the premier league who would give him a 2-3 year playing contract?
All clubs should know when to let a player go, and the player needs to be told sometimes no matter how harsh.
Never overstay your welcome as a great player, you are then remembered as a great and a legend , don’t just fizzle out.
Ferguson never took easy decisions but he was proven right and ruthless with players when needed.
Be remembered as a legend Nobes.

    Correct decision

Makes perfect sense. If his detractors do not understand his value around the team and squad, as the beating heart of “West Ham” within the squad and club, then they probably wouldn’t have understood Tony Adams’s value to Arsenal when he was there.
Nobes is someone who understands and is able to convey what it means to play for this club and its supporters, both on and off the pitch. As well as being able to have a quiet word with players, without the manager having to get involved. We ALL understand that Noble’s appearances will be limited, but his value to the club next season is all-important.
I Would like to think that the club has learnt its lessons from its treatment of West Ham Legend Bobby Moore years ago.

Yes but under no circumstances on the playing staff, there were so many times this season he has come into a game and contributed absolutely nothing. There were better players to come on. Him being a player alone has had a negative impact on some of our performances this season. I would love to have him around the first team involved in a coaching aspect and he can have the same impact.

Memories are short. Late last spring Noble was critical in pulling us out of relegation. Rice is still growing into the captains band and at times gets distracted himself. Another season for Noble as the team builds is more than reasonable. More so if we make Europe as we will not have the depth and experience needed without him. Then player-coach.

REALLY ! I thought the plan was to concentrate on younger average age for the squad . I also keep hearing that we are short of money . Noble now has absolutely nothing to contribute to the squad .. We should be using his wages to pay a striker and give players that matter like ,Rice ,Coufal and Soucek the contracts that their contribution deserves. Just look at the team sheets for the games we lost to average sides and you will see Noble every time . I seem to think that we have lost everygame he started ? COYI

Time to hang up his boots at this level and we want to pay him a top salary for another 2 years ?!!

      Soft touch west ham.

Give it all to Rice, Soucek and Coufal? Then, if their form should dip or if they seem ‘old’ we should rid ourselves of their services too. Sounds like a plan? What a life.

Age is no concern. If Mark is up to the job he deserves his place. COYI

Pathetic sympathetic non football decision that will just hold the team back. We need another top midfielder if we reach Europe. I would 100% be in favour of a role in the club like part of the coaching team or joining up with the 23’s. It makes no sense as he will make no playing contribution. The money in this day can be used to secure a player. A sad story if true. I am disappointed too in Noble if he is prepared to sign a contract as a player if he has the interests in the club’s progress.
