New deal on way for Iron

West Ham hold a two year option on Ben Johnson with the player due to come out of contract net year.

Johnson was outstanding in the game against Everton of course, notably as he has only appeared for one minute in a previous Premier League game at Newcastle in the opening match of the season.

Beyond that he has done well in games against Manchester United and Rapid Vienna as he bid to establish a place in the squad.

Ben is set to be offered an extension on his current deal and his versatility as either a right, left back or left sided wing back is a genuine asset to the team.

The Hammers also have to decide whether they will be offering 33 year old central defender and yesterday’s goalscorer Angelo Ognonna a new deal.

His form remains excellent and like Lukasz Fabianski this season it’s possible that he will be offered another year.

  1. Good news and well deserved Ben !!!

Ogbonna should get a 2 year deal he never lets us down.

What about a deal for Rice ?

  2. Great news, for all concerned. Ben is the future of West Ham and for many reasons, he has to be treated well and fairly to keep him happy at the club. It is players like Declan, Ben, Jamal and Harrison who will show potential young signings that there is a pathway through to the first team and that we still produce brilliant young footballers. The Academy is on the rise once again.
As for Angelo and Lukasz, if they are still performing at the level they are right now, I don’t see a reason that we should be looking to offload them as they provide squad experience. Similar to Mark Noble who’s influence has previously been stated by Declan.
