Italian press today claim that West Ham are continuing their pursuit of Roma forward Edin Dzeko.
The 33-year-old is said to remain a top target in the eyes of Manuel Pellegrini. A move to West Ham this summer would see a reunion between Dzeko and Pellegrini, who worked together whilst at Manchester City.
The report says that West Ham made an offer of €10m for the Bosnian striker in January which was rejected. The striker whose contract with the Giallorossi expires next summer so could be approaching an end to his time in the Italian capital if they want any kind of transfer fee for him. Roma has reportedly responded to West Ham’s bid by saying that they would need to double the offer up to €20m (£17m) before they would consider accepting.
Reportedly, Dzeko’s proposed contract with West Ham would have seen him earn the same £75,000 per week wages as he is on with Roma but until 2022, when Dzeko will be 35 years old.
Another report from Italian outlet Il Tempo claims West Ham have agreed on personal terms of a two-year contract with the AS Roma striker.
I would have him all day long ahead of the likes of Milosevic but I am not sure he is the one we should be targeting. Saying this would not be disappointed if we did sign him.
If this is true we are surely gonna be a retirement home for all old waifs and stays at the end of there useful playing days? Sort of a dads army with Pellegrini being dad????
Yet again we are being linked with a player in the twilight of his career.Cannot carry on with these short term fixes.Surely Pellegrini has to continue building a team with a long term future.Come Summer clear out the deadwood and buy young and continue to recruit from the U23s.
blimey 33 yr old still hope for me yet at my age to get a big pay out from West Ham we need young players not past there sell by date ffs
Norfolking way!
