Are we seeing anti – West Ham bias again in action in the England Selection process, I wonder.
Especially in the context of this weekend’s withdrawals from the squad, I am amazed that Jarrod Bowen didn’t get a late call up: Three England choices, Morgan Gibbs-White, Kobbie Mainoo and Ezri Konsa, all pulled out injured. Lee Carsley decides he can cope with his 22 man squad and doesn’t pick up the ‘phone to Bowen. This is spite of Bowen announcing a return to form with a man-of-the-match level performance on Saturday.
Remembering also Harry Kane’s fitness is in doubt -(with tests being run at present I hear,) it seems bizarre not to call upon the Hammers Captain as there are two games in close succession.
And as I listened to Gabby Agbonlahor ripping into Lee Carsley on Talk Sport regarding Bowen’s omission, it got me thinking – how come Aaron Wan-Bissaka, firstly, and Max Kilman secondly don’t get a look-in ?
Wan-Bissaka has been absolutely magnificent for West Ham this season and I don’t believe there is a better Premier League right back available.
Max Kilman – well, maybe there are others equal to the task, but surely he has to be ‘close’?
I find it hard to understand. Maybe after watching England’s game against Greece on Thursday night I’ll be forced to reconsider or admit that the right back and centre back choices Carsley puts out at Wembley are far and away the best in the country. If so, I’ll admit it.
If however the chosen players ‘just happen to play for one of the big six’ – more fashionable clubs than West Ham United – and fail to excel – then I’ll be back on the soap box come Friday morning.
The only problem with coming out with this Martin, is that it’s only Greece that England are playing; whoever is picked are bound to look good lol 😆
That feels a bit rough on poor Mavropanos, though!
I’m gutted, I won a FA comp to see the team train and signings at the end and no Bowen. The only saving grace was Kevin Nolan was there and got to have chat with him for a couple of minutes, top bloke!
Only the name of the manager is different. The computer programme which was developed selecting the U12’s and upwards is running really smoothly now. There was a seamless change at the ‘helm’ as Southgate lost credibility but the ‘interim’ solution is same-old same-old. Things are going so well with the England FA business that the interim will become the next permanent. Meanwhile, the program will continue to select England staff. Unfortunately, West Ham United did not have any profile points worthy of inclusion in the algorithms and all hope is lost.
Sad but true.
COYI
I am amazed that Max Killman doesn’t get a mention in any pundits thoughts. Especially when he has to compete with a donkey like Maguire who I believe is also injured. But like some of the others say it is more of a relief when our players are omitted from their national squads, especially for this pointless tournament and pointless friendlies. If we can’t win this group we may as well give up. I like to see West Ham players in the actual tournament finals
I’m always happy to see no West Ham players named in England squads.
Couldn’t give a flying f#@k about England, I hope none of our players get called up.
Dean Ashton anyone ?
Club before country all day long
Let’s be happy none of our boys are in the squad
Too soon for an anti West Ham conspiracy. Lee Carsley could probably do without too many new faces while he gets to grips with his squad as it is. Maybe come the spring matches if our English players are going well but not getting a look in it’d be a fair chirp but not yet.
