West Ham women have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Mel Filis on the club’s official website.
She spent last season on loan at London Bees, where she played in every Women’s Championship match.
Filis rose through the ranks during her time at Arsenal and made her debut at the age of 16, back in 2018.
The midfielder spent some time training with the Irons last season so she’s well aware of the setup in east London.
The Hammers have been busy in the transfer window, already bringing in Tameka Yallop, Zaneta Wyne, and Claudia Walker.
Filis has played at various England youth levels, winning caps for the U17 team and the U19s.
She will not hope to make a real impact with the Irons after a relatively disappointing 2020/21 season for the club, as they could only seal a ninth-placed finish in the Super League, winning three of their 22 games and collecting just 15 points in total.
