New Man City target named

|

Fabian-Delph-620962The Times newspaper has named the 27-year-old midfielder Fabian Delph as a new target for West Ham this summer. Delph joined City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015 for £8m.

The former Leeds United star, who has failed to establish himself with City is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2020.

The Times has also named Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and striker Kelechi Iheanacho, Arsenal duo Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as the Hammers’ targets.

Delph may be struggling for playing time at City, but the England international is a good midfielder who has a lot of experience in the Premier League. Delph could be available for a fee around £13m but if true the Hammers would have to compete with Newcastle,  Burnley, West Brom and Stoke who are all said to be keen.

The player himself said earlier this year “It’s been a bit of a roller-coaster ride since I’ve been here, I’ve not managed to get going, but I’m over my injuries now and I feel really good so I’m ready to try to help out my team-mates, a couple of mates have said to me, ‘You’ve been linked with X, Y and Z’ but I’ve not given it any thought. I’m happy here.”

Can be good on the ball, but if we are really looking for pace, as the reports suggest, he’s not the man.

He is a good solid pro, I was surprised when City signed him but would be a good option instead of Noble.
