New man’s arrival to open fresh Hammers era

Rob Newman

David Sullivan is more than ready to allow new head of recruitment Rob Newman to take over over the deal doing when he arrives at West Ham on September 22.

David Moyes’ choice as his top recruitment man has been on gardening leave from Manchester City and will step into his new role after being placed on an enforced three month ‘leave and it open a new era as the joint chairman takes more of a back seat.

Sullivan is now ready – after a successful last window – to allow the newly appointed recruitment chief man to take over from him as the main negotiator with agents.

That’s been a wearying job which became even more stressful over the last few weeks and Sullivan is now happy to take a rest from the job and allow Newman a free hand.

The Hammers transfer business was crammed into the last few days of the window when multi agents fees were often demanded as they all looked for a share of deals however limited their input.

Multi-lingual Newman’s arrival is being welcomed in the Hammers boardroom as the manager’s new approach to the recruitment is awaited with relaxed anticipation.
