New Payet deal – The Finances

payetawayThe Daily Mail are reporting that Dimitri Payet’s new five and a half deal will keep his basic wages at £68,000 per week but add-ons will push his pay package over £100,000 per week at least for the first year of the new deal.

Payet is understood to be receiving an add-on of £25,000 per appearance, which has the potential to increase his wages by another £1m per year if he manages to replicate the 42 appearances made by Aaron Cresswell in the league and cups last season.

It is also claimed he will receive a one-off signing on bonus of £1m for the new contract – these are often paid over twelve months adding another £19,000 per week to his pay packet.

It means he is on target to have the potential to earn over £106,000 per week on average in the next twelve months dropping down to around £87,500 per week for the following four years after the initial signing on bonus is paid. The deal could net him £26m in wages over the lifetime of the contract. The club will also have to fork out 13.8% for Employers National Insurance payments which will add another £14k per week plus any agent fees agreed to transact the new deal.

This will still make him the top earner in the club surpassing Andy Carroll who is believed to earn £85,000 per week.

  1. Fair enough considering his worth to the team !!!

  2. Won’t be going to any soup kitchens soon, hope he has a good charity he helps,
If anyone is worth that sort of money he does on this seasons performance, wonder if there was any buy out clause ?
Well at least he has a happy agent until the summer, when the rumours will start again and stupid money will be offered,
When it hits the £50 million mark we will sit up and listen,
