New poll asks Bilic or Mancini?

|

Roberto-ManciniHeavy speculation has again arisen in the media this morning that Slaven Bilic is coming under pressure following the arrival of Roberto Mancini at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

Mancini watched his former club Manchester City beat the Irons 4-0 which has been enough to produce The Mirror headline ” Ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini ready to replace under-pressure Slaven Bilic at West Ham.”

And a poll run by the paper is showing a majority believe Mancini would be a better Hammers boss than Slaven.

Slav has had more pressure and polls during a seriously difficult year than possibly any other manager in a very long time and The Mirror latest one  shows that nationally  57 per cent believe Mancini would be a better manager than Slav.

That’s one thing but Hammers fans have regularly called for Slav to be kept in place so one again we ask the question: Should Mancini replace Slaven in the summer?

The author of the piece Darren Lewis writes ‘ Hammers fans are particularly disappointed by the poor signings made last summer, and the club will look to overhaul the squad once again at the end of the season with a new goalkeeper, a central midfielder and another striker wanted.’

Mancini?!?!? I can see it now Bilic goes Mancini arrives six months down the line the same fans will be wanting him out.I am staggered how a couple of our fans on the other site are not premier league managers. There seems nothing they are not experts on,fitness, getting the best of players, tactics.Maybe the club should look there for our new manager while Slaven Bilic grave is being dug!

Great poll Hugh! Actually it’s daft but I see the Wetties are slagging it off so I thought I’d support it.

My BBC app is running an article about Why some people become enraged by sounds such as eating or breathing it has been explained by brain scan studies.
The condition, misophonia, is far more than simply disliking noises such as nails being scraped down a blackboard. Source BBC.

I’m like that when I see the Wetties posting. Lmao

  • John says:

Hughie unban Nigel Kahn so he has the right to reply below. Put the thread up the top and let’s have a grown up debate.

We all know the problems with last summers transfer and recruitment policy – quantity for squad depth over quality. I found it interesting that Slav resisted Hogan – that suggests to me the club want to get things sorted and right when the main players become available in the summer. Take Wenger’s moto – the players that come in must improve what we already have – Tore, Calleri, probably Ginge, Feghouli, Adrian and maybe Nordveidt all to go this summer, Payet’s move has also freed the wage bill. Bring in the top class striker (to play with Andy C), right back (to push or replace Sam Byram), a keeper (hart is well trailed) and add more speed and muscle in mid field for Cheikou and Pedro O and we will I feel really go places……

  • John says:

I find it amazing that 30% would want him out after last season and given we sit in 10th at the moment. And Mancini? Really??

  • slaven a laugh says:

Super. Super Slav. Super Slaven Bilic.

Lol 32,i dont need a no2.I am just going to read blogs through the week.I will find out all i need to known from the keyboard managers in preperation for matchdays. Its fool proof 😂

  • Maravilla says:

Have no doubt that this is the club putting feelers out to gauge our reaction, seems there is problems between the manager and the board and Bilic will be the fall guy.. I was told if we had lost to Crystal Palace then it would have been goodnight Vienna. And do you really believe that Bilic is happy with that sqaud and Byram at RB ???

  • StanThe Man says:

Modern day football is a joke. Its a circus,a merry-go-round of stupid instant gratification needed by some supporters.Fuelled by gobshytes on the internet who think that they should & could lift the premier league title themselves with ease if they were a manager. It does my swede in.As h&p says they are managers, fitness coaches & tactical geniuses all from their laptop or phone. Its pitiful to read.
I read yesterday someone say that in some fans eyes Bilic can do no wrong.Well i think maybe its just a case of fans not being gobshytes who want to tell him how to do his job every day like the man who made this statement.

  • mooro66uk says:

Don’t really matter who is there, some will want them jogged on just for the sake of it. Do you honestly think the Daves have enough cash to splash to attract Mancini?

  • Eug says:

I hate to say this, because Slaven is a really nice guy, but tactically, he leaves a lot to be desired. Two years running Astra Giurgiu done a number on us. They had us sussed tactically and on both occasions we made the same mistakes. Its the same with Man City.
We learnt nothing from the F A Cup 5 – 0 defeat. Wednesday’s match was a carbon copy.
Again Guardiola had us 100% sussed. His team played the perfect game against us on two occasions and we had no response. Yes I know City have spent hudreds of millions on the worlds best talent, but we were also out played tactically. We have the players to get decent results against the middle and lower teams but when it comes to the top teams with the very best coaches we are not in the same league.
I also feel our board can not do right for doing wrong. If the fans weren’t so in love with Slaven they would be saying that they lacked ambition. The fact that they maybe exploring alternatives is being portrayed as betrayal.
Make no mistake an appointment of Mancini’s calibre would be a major step up.
It does hert me to say it, because Slaven is one of the nicest and honest managers in the league.

I’m reading this morning that Benitez has got the hump with Newcastle about not being backed in the January Window, and the Mail is saying he is likely to leave in the Summer.

If he becomes available West Ham should get at the front of the queue for his services and give him the backing and whatever else he wants!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I wouldn’t want Mancini although he was in the crowd, the right man I think for the job is Bielsa, there is an interesting article by Zaza in the press today where he accepts the blame for his failures but also talked about the regime at West Ham and his inability to adjust to it. For me it explains a lot and I think it shows that many who say the team look unfit and underprepared physically the link to that is here, read it for yourselves. I didn’t select anyone in the vote, http://londonfootballnews.co.uk/west-ham/i-became-crazy-zaza-attacks-west-hams-training-methods-failed-move/

  • Cranhamhammer says:

Reasons people are not happy with Slaven. Players don’t suddenly go bad. Adrian played behind a disorganised defence – off with his head. Is Randolph really that much better ? After Wednesday’s performance I suppose Fonte is a $^*t defender ?
Nordveidt is a defensive midfielder – not a right wing back. Zaza had never played as a single striker before. If Slaven insists in playing one up front, there was no point in getting Hogan, Defoe or any quick forward. That’s why Demba Ba was in the news.

  • ric vespa says:

Slav has gotten his tactics wrong far too many times. When we should be sitting on a point away we press and attack and give up the point. I love the man as much as the rest . He has been figured out. This is something that happens far too often. I’ll weekend do is watch and our opinions are based on what we read. We’re not there every day. Passion only gets you so far. Experience, leadership and respect are what’s needed.
Mancini. YES every day of the week. He’s proven. Seriously! He’s won the league and he’s won the FA cup. He started with the club identical to ours in many ways. Obviously other than the ownership.
    WHTID!

    • dsdavis6 says:

He won a few competitions after 124M net spend in his first season in charge for a club that had already had huge investment. Not really identical at all. Can’t picture us going out and signing anybody the caliber of Aguero for example. And if we did he’d probably get injured in his first training session. Not suggesting Slav is perfect but not sure Mancini is the solution you’re making him out to be either.

  • TRB says:

    All you need is Slav.
    Slav is all you need.

  • StanThe Man says:

Just another garbage poll say the kings of talking garbage. So tiresome & predictable.
It is a poll on a website, nothing more, nothing less.Crikey i wish some of our support would grow up instead of acting like a group of teenage girls dancing around their handbags.

  • Carrerageorge says:

I don’t think it heps holding polls such as this which encourage instability.I don’t honestly know whether Manzini would be better.Comparisons with City are invalid given the disparity in budgets .

    • Yer not what Carrer, you don’t get it. The poll was launched by the Mirror, attracted votes from people not involved with this club and we loaded this in Slav’s favour deliberately to correct the balance. If youare a regular reader you will know we support SB 100pc

  • Radai Lama-.Sky Bet 15/8 as West Hams Next Manager says:

Lol George,to be fair the instability will always be there on the internet.Poll or no poll some fans are already holding wakes for Bilic as they put their name in the hat.
They have no chance though, the job is mine 😂

  • HamburgHammer says:

The guy doing the poll has been very subtle by not using punctuation, so both choices are anti-Bilic as even the second one reads No Trust in Slav.
I still like Bilic and.hope he stays our manager for a long time, but I won’t be voting in the poll.
Besides, even winning managers like Mancini or Benitez can’t be sucessful on shoestring budgets. Unless the owners start getting serious about signing quality players for the prices going for those, it doesn’t really matter who is manager.
And if bloody Allardyce got four years at West Ham Bilic deserves the same courtesy in my humble opinion.

  • Radai Lama-.Sky Bet 15/8 as West Hams Next Manager says:

Bloody hell H i know we are thought of as illiterate on here but we know the difference between Yes for Mancini & No for Trust in Slav. Its a 50/50 choice.Even we can work that out 😂😂

  • HamburgHammer says:

I am sure you all can Radai, but I wouldn’t vouch for all those Mirror readers…😉😀😙

  • Radai Lama-.Sky Bet 15/8 as West Hams Next Manager says:

Typical bloody Guardian reader, looking down on the red top readers lol 😂😂
Now stop farting about on west ham sites & get on with producing your Monday article 😁

  • HamburgHammer says:

I will Radai, but may I watch our game against Southampton first? 🙂

  • Comedychuckle says:

Wednesday night showed again that the pitch is at maximum size and we have never played on that size pitch unless it’s Wembley.
Man city have 3 men up front and wide with electric pace.
The pitch at Upton Park was smaller and fans closer..but at Olympic Park to get fans closer they have maximum pitch size. That’s why at Upton we were great under slaven..
To back me up even commentators agreed

  • KevPef says:

To be honest any manager will struggle while this board is in control, We need a chairman who will put his money where his mouth is, somebody who will go quietly about there business not self publishing every supposed transfer target before hand and then ultimately making them and even worse the club look ridiculous to the rest of the footballing world. The Payet situation was not there fault that was down to the player himself but I do believe they held on to him right up until the last minute so it would become almost impossible to spend any of the cash from this sale. Maybe they don’t trust Bilic and that was there reason I couldn’t say but they have taken a gamble in not getting another striker in and a decent right back, a move they may well regret if Carrol gets a knock we are left waiting for shako to return sometime in March (a player we were ready to off load). The next few games are vital and we need to get some points on the board or we are back in the relegation mire. In my opinion we should let Slav try and sort things out and at the end of the season they all sit down and then make decisions about the future and where the club goes from there. But all this talk of taking us to the next level is just pure fantasy we may have the stadium for all that but that is only concrete and steel we also need the squad and we are a million miles away from that and as I said at the start until we have a chairman who is going to get his hand in his pocket that is where we will remain. COYI

  • jj61 says:

One thing is certain…if the board sack Slav,he will end up in some other premier club for sure..have no doubt Slav will be in demand…

  • Hammer64 says:

Don’t think Mancini would touch us with a very long barge pole after Wednesday night- probably not even if we had beaten them 4-0.

  • Hammer and Pickle says:

But it wouldnt be a joke if it was on WHTID im sure Hammertime Mikey.Oh no,it would be deemed to be a necessary barometer of fan support for the manager. So transparent some of you.

  • WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU HAMMERTIME MIKEY – IT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE MIRROR BIAS DELIBERATELY AND HAS PROVED TO HAVE DONE SO. WHY DO YOU ASSUME SO MUCH AND WHY DON’T YOU READ IT PROPERLY OR AT LEAST THE NUANCES WITHIN IT FOR GOD’S SAKE.I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN AMONG US BUT WE ARE A 100 PC PRO SLAVEN SITE.

  • wazza says:

1+1 really does = 3…… Mancini at a man city match and suddenly the opposing team wants them as their manager. The Mirror lazy reporting at its best.! Ridiclus, and even more so that 30% of fans on this site (at the time of writing) want him….
Even if it would be true, no thanks.!

  • StanThe Man says:

Now some of you im a bit old in tooth & therefore command no respect but what is wrong with you.Can you not see if this poll had been left only on the mirror other clubs fans would have trolled it relentlessly until the whole vote was skewed in favour of Mancini.
It seems in a few cases your prejudice towards this site is making you flap your gums without even understanding what it is doing on here.
I now call for the prosecution witness.

    • Stratford E20 says:

If other fans trolled it – I would have thought that the voting would be skewed in favour of keeping Bilic

  • StanThe Man says:

It that was ment to be funny it was.
If it was ment to be serious then it will be a first that i have seen.Human nature dictates you go for the obvious pick that will pee off that clubs fans. They know the majority of us are still behind Slaven so they will go for Mancini.
