New Rice deal on cards

RiceBolton978West Ham are highly likely to offer Declan Rice a new deal in the summer.

The brilliant youngster is currently on a contract which expires in 2019 but the club are always keen to reward players for excellence and will be wanting to talk to him and his advisers once the season ends.

The 18 year old has been the best young Hammers prospect to appear since the days of Mark Noble and James Tomkins.

His ability and versatility has created a huge impression on both the manager and his backroom team, notably Stuart Pearce whom Rice revealed recently has taken him very much under his wing since his breakthrough.

It was only this time last year that the teenager was leading the Under 23s to promotion from Premier League 2 Division 2 and this term has appeared in the first team 18 appearances in all competitions.

The Irons board are always keen to improve deals when players show top form as was the case with Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio and it would come as no surprise to see Rice join those ranks.

  1. Hope I’m wrong, but I can honestly see one of the big boys coming in for him in the summer☹️

  2. I would say comparing him to Noble and Tompkins is an insult he is the best player since Carrick imho

  3. Rice looks like a top prospect, hope we develop him and Oxford over the next few seasons.

  4. Rice is a top lad , deserves all the plaudits he’s getting at the moment…worked his socks off in all the teams he’s been involved with..has grasped his chance with both hands and i hope he’s paid his dues with a bumper contract. We know he’s not the finished product yet ..but when he is will definitely be a collusus for us in the future …
