New Striker On Hammers’ Shopping List | Forget Ferguson and Latte-Lath

Many and varied are the striker targets for West Ham this January. Without Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, the urgency to bring a Premier League-quality goal scorer into the club is greater than at any stage since Gianluca Scamacca was sold.

Currently riding high on the rumour-mill ratings are Middlesboro’s Latte-Lath and Brighton’s Ferguson: However, Matt Law at the telegraph: “West Ham weigh up striker swoop with Evan Ferguson and Hwang Hee-chan on shortlist” threw a new name into the mix that I’d not heard linked with West Ham this window

The new striker on the radar yesterday was that of Wolves’ forward Hwang Hee-Chan. I’m not sure that would prove an easy deal for West Ham, Wolves having turned down a bid of £21 million from Marseille for the 28 year old (nicknamed ‘the bull’) last summer. New coach Vitor Pereira has used the South Korean twice and he has scored two goals already in return.

The striker scored four goals in 19 games under Lopetegui at Wolves

Quite where West Ham will secure their goal scorer in January is hard to guess. No club wants to part with a quality player in the middle of the season so Steidten and Sullivan will have their work cut out bringing anybody worthwhile into the club.

Especially with the modest budget West Ham have, it may well be that a loan signing becomes the only option as the Hammers go cap in hand, seeking to pick up another club’s out-of-favour attacker with a point to prove and a career to rebuild à la Jesse Lingard.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

Wolves cast offs. Were not safe. Teams below us are improving and were in a worse position than we were when the season started, player wise. Watch Hwang just be an excuse for him to drop Summerville. Get me Latte Lath.

  • Hammer Ed says:

Hwang may be pretty useless but he better than what we’ve got left in our crap squad.

What a load of rubbish Sullivan has left the fans with.

Who is this Matt Law guy? Does he have a special connection within the club to gain this so-called tip-off? Either way, if true, I agree it’s uninspiring. Still I suppose he will fit in with the rest of the bunch that can’t hit a barn door from 5 feet.

Are we limited to 2 loans?
