New twist in Matheus Pereira tale

|

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly filed a formal complaint with FIFA against Saudi Arabia club AlHilal for negotiating with their player Matheus Pereira without the club’s permission. Pereira confirmed in his statement today that he received a ‘life-changing offer’ & wants to leave the Baggies.

The same report says West Brom are not budging on their £25m-£30m asking price for Matheus Pereira with AlHilal only prepared to offer £12.8m.

Pereira has allegedly been offered £139,000 per week by the Saudi Arabian outfit to move his family to the middle east.

The Athletic today claims that West Ham are the only Premier League club wanting to do a deal at the moment but confirm there have been no bids from England and the rejected bid from Al Hilal is the only offer that West Brom have received.

Claret and Hugh understand although West Ham made an early enquiry for the Baggies playmaker, Pereira is not a priority for David Moyes but remains an option.

West Ham have yet to make a formal bid and are unlikley to pay the full asking price or match the £139,000 per week reportedly being offered to Matheus.

He is not a priority, the best player in the championship !!! This all stinks of Moyes holding out hope for Lingard. Really incredible how ridiculous Moyes will end up looking if he ends up signing Lingard for 30m with one year left on his contract and no other major signings.

Lingard is not coming to West Ham and he is not worth 30 million with one year left on his contract. If he wanted to leave Man Utd and come to us he would have put in a transfer request not seeking reassurances over game time before looking elsewhere. Would I like him at West Ham, yes, but that shop has now sailed and I would not be happy at signing someone who comes to us because he has no other option. Pereira scored 11 goals last season in a relegated team, 1 goal more than Antonio who we eulogize about. Appears to me we have our priorities all wrong.

He will hold out for Lingard until the last minute. Not sure he’ll bring in anyone else for that position if a deal can’t be done there. I think Benrahma gets the gig if he we can’t get Lingard.

Why hold out for Lingard until the end to end up with no one . Lingard wants to fight for his place so rumour has it . Not sure he will get much game time but it’s his choice. We need to strengthen squad & move on . Absolutely no suggestion we are signing anyone with less than 2 weeks until PL .

If nobody else will pay Lingard’s fee and wages we will probably end up taking him on loan again. And we we won’t be able to match Al Hilal’s Pierera offer, so why waste energy on that? Personally I think we’re spending far to much time chasing attacking midfielders when it’s blatantly obvious we need an out-and-out striker and a centre-back.

I think that should say signings are not a priority for West Ham at the moment.

Hlozek and Milenkovicz: young, hungry and very talented…Lingard was once a top player and shone for a while for us before fading badly. We can do better by being more imaginative. Important that Bowen stays.

    • Hammersmiff says:

I agree John, Lingard did exceptionally well for us but did fade badly in the last part of the season. There were times that he really should have been reeled in but it was never going to happen which must have been a bit galling for the likes of Bowen/Benrahma who get subbed regardless.

    • GaryD says:

Yep. Build on our strengths and buy young, ambitious players that will grow with the club.
