Newcastle offers keeper swap

Adrian-Darlow-833683Newcastle United could be about to re-enter talks to sign West Ham goalkeeper Adrian claims the Newcastle Chronicle today.

Rafa Benitez is understood to have identified the 30-year-old goalkeeper as a player who can challenge for the number 1 spot at St James’ Park next season.

And the Chronicle claims that sources in London have suggested that the Hammers are interested in taking Karl Darlow as part of a possible exchange deal or swap. Darlow was left out of Newcastle’s clash at Bradford in case he picked up an injury that would rule him out of any potential summer move, and Irishman Rob Elliot, whose nation is the subject of the St Patrick slots, is currently number one on Tyneside.

Darlow was the subject of an unsuccessful £5million bid from Middlesbrough earlier this month before they turned their attentions to Randolph.

Benitez recently said: “We have three keepers and we had to give them some time. we couldn’t leave one person on the bench, because after one week I think they all needed to play.”

  1. For once I think maybe a loan swap could work well here… maybe. Adrian can rediscover his form and we will have a younger option to possibly look to the future with?

    • But would Darlow at nearly 27, settle for the understudy role at West Ham? If he is part of the deal, it might be good for us.

  2. Loan swap plus a loan fee, Adrian is a very good keeper and could get better, Darlo is nowhere near the finished article.

  3. I would much rather this then sell to palace. Agree w others I’d could work on loan deal for both to swap over would be best.
    Hart -30 Darlow-26 Trott – 22
Don’t want to be scrambling in mkt for a GK and would most likely be free like Shay Given maybe Valdes if he is willing to be back up.
But Slav told Hart and the Media he would have to earn his spot and he hasn’t done that yet 40m of preseason and Adrian is still training hard and knows the club would rather him stay and fight for spot get the best out of both bc Hart hasn’t played in premier in a over a year and We want the Hart of 3 years ago and he will need competition to get there and a lot oa rising on this move for him. So could be to much pressure or could be just right.
Just too risky to bet it all on Hart.
If Loan Swap could be arranged would work for me. But is Darlow Happy to be #2 like TBH said

  4. Slav’s words on Adrian leaving… Wants him to stay and offer new deal

Hopefully in the end that will be the result

  5. Theres nothing wromg with Darlow,he was excellent at Forest.Whether he would come as an understudy whose knows but i would have no problems with having him in our ranks.
Apologies to the Adrian fans but i dont care if he goes if a suitable replacement can be found.

  6. My sources tell me they’ve got Daniel Bentley from Brentford lined up!

Do you think maybe I’ve been listening to Jim White a bit too much?

  7. Personally I’d be happier if they came in for Carroll instead.

  8. Get Mile Svilar as a back up. Still young, but very very promising. Cannot wait to get action, so is hungry, and is only number 3 at Anderlecht. Either way, I still don’t really get why this fascination for Joe Hart. For that matter, we should have got Butland before he went to Stoke.
