Ngakia breaks silence on Hammers departure

a

Former Hammer Jeremy Ngakia has broken silence on leaving West Ham.

Speaking to TalkSport radio on Friday Ngakia said: “I just thought that at this moment of my career the most important thing for me is to develop, to play games.

“I didn’t think I was going to, honestly, get games at West Ham. Or it didn’t sound or feel guaranteed.

“Watford then came in and it sounded good so it was a great opportunity for me.

“You’ve got to be brave 100 per cent, and do what’s best for you.

“I’m learning a lot, literally every day in training. I am a young player, I have still got a lot to learn but this is what I want. Players around me that I can learn from and it’s great.

“You have to have the mindset to want to improve to get to the top, you have to learn every day and learn something new every day.”

Watford  have yet to agree compensation with West Ham,

Where a professional football player like Jeremy Ngakia, under the age of 24, has been offered a new contract by his club and he rejects that offer in order to take up the opportunity to sign for another club, compensation will be payable

Ngakia joined the West Ham Academy when he was 14 years old and the club has invested five years of training in the youngster. Should  the 19-year-old sign for a new club in the summer West Ham can approach that club for compensation.

In the majority of cases,  both clubs will reach mutual agreement on a compensation fee. However,  if the two clubs’ valuations differ the matter will need to be settled through an arbitration process.

That process is operated by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC). The PFCC is incorporated under the rules of both The Football League and Premier League, and forms part of the collective bargaining agreement with the Professional Footballers’ Association.  The PFCC comprises of an independent Chairman, appointees from The Premier League, an appointee of The Professional Footballers’ Association and an appointee of the League Managers’ Association.

PFCC hearings require each club to provide evidence to support their valuation of the player in question. In making its judgment the committee will take into account the costs of both clubs in operating a Football Academy or Centre of Excellence, as well as the age and playing record of the player, the length of time he was registered with his original club, the terms offered by both clubs, the status of the two clubs and the substantiated interest shown by other clubs in acquiring the registration of the player.

  1. So he went because we wouldn’t guarantee him a regular game and he obviously didn’t think he was good enough to play in front of Ben Johnson. He was an 18 year old with less than a handful of Premier league games to his credit. What sensible manager would guarantee him regular first team football.

  2. …..and THIS is the best excuse that he could come up with, in all the time that he’s had to come out with his story?
I now know why he didn’t speak out earlier and that this is his very best excuse that he could come up with???
    …..What a load of old B****KS
There are different levels of traitors but for one so young and an ex-academy product who would’ve been learning so much more at this club and obviously playing regularly (as it was plain to see that Moyes rated him)……. I’d say he’s in poor company and rubbing shoulders with our very own recent Snakes.
I’m not even gonna wish him good luck.

  3. He’s hardly a traitor, he’s an 18 year old kid who has probably made a mistake, like I did many times at his age, as did most, if not all of the rest of you. Throw in being potentially given bad advice from some one/some people he trusted. Hardly traitor status.

  4. The S man strikes again……your welcome to your opinion as I am mine.
