Ngakia: The fans react

|
The bizarre circumstances surrounding Jeremy Ngakia’s decision to leave the club without offering to sign until the end of an interrupted season has brought a mixed reaction from the fans.
Here’s some random responses from ClaretandHugh followers
  • If it’s right that we have made various offers and there has been no response other than to say he’s leaving, it’s not rocket science working out what’s probably gone off.
  • Be good to retain Ngakia’s services – but not at any price. He has featured in, what, four senior games? His has made a very promising start but to reward him with too much, too soon is dangerous. Give him a good basic salary and offer extra payments for appearances. But to say “what do you want” will simply bring on a bidding war with his agent and future employers. Another inflated ego is the last thing the club needs.
  • He doesn’t want to stay no matter how much we offer him. If he did then he or his agent would name their price
  • Asking ‘What do you want?’ at least gives the club a reasonable chance to match or decline his agents demands. My concern is that he leaves and becomes a ‘hate figure’ for fans, when all he wants is a reasonable way to secure his and his family’s future.

It’s a job and position many 19 year old kids would climb mountains for! In all honesty he is 19 and guess can dream of playing for a bigger club. Nothing wrong with ambition. But he needs to understand you get nothing in life without hard work and progressing in stages. The money could start to deminish over the next few seasons with fans not able to attend just yet. That sort of wedge is more than most of would see for 90 mins work a week.! Unfortunately he should sling his hook and hope greed isn’t the end of his career cause at his age finding alternative work outside of football might be tougher than he thinks!

Tough one. Head says he’s a great prospect we should do everything to keep him. Heart says, if this kid had even an ounce of respect he would at least see out the season, poisonous little bratt get rid.

“To secure his family’s future”? He’s 19 FFS. And he can’t secure this so called family on £5,000 a week? Wish I’d had that sort of income when I was 19. No, sorry, to demand £20,000 per week in the position he’s in at the moment is ludicrous. Firstly you have to show us you’re worth that sort of money over a period of time, not 4 games. Grow up lad as you could become very sorry. If you wanna go then go, there will be plenty of others to take your place, you won’t be missed.

    • lol. my thoughts exactly

        Jog on Jem bye bye.
Don’t try to hold us to ransom you don’t want to play for our badge with any commitment and why Mr Moyes even.plays you in the “warm ups”to this season grates me.Ryan.,Ben are available and if push came to.shove Zabba could extend for s short time after June 30 unless he has other signed up.commitments albeit at a cost but off you go Jem..

The issue about Ngakia and West ham United seems to be a serious lack of respect on both sides for each other. The club have left it very late in the day to have a serious negotiation because , i am guessing , they didnt’think Ngakia was worth a salary in excess of £10, 000 per month. If NGakia wants £20,000 per week after 4 first eam games , it is excessive. I believe , Ngakia was tapped up by Liverpool after the match at Anfield by Jurgen Klopp and that is why Nkgakia has decided not to negotiate or speak to West Ham about a new deal. IT is another Paul Ince story
