Nicholas queries whether Ayew is value

andreayew726Charlie Nicholas has questioned the wisdom of  West Ham paying Swansea £20.5m for Andre Ayew.

“I thought it was a bit pricey but then again everything is pricey at the minute,”  Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“He’s a decent player. He seems the type who, playing with better players, could get better again. There’s a lot I do like about him [but] it’s a lot of money.”

Andre Ayew was available on a free transfer last season but rejected the Hammers. Last August Hammers Chairman’s son Jack Sullivan has admitted that West Ham offered Andre Ayew £90,000 per week to become a Hammer before Swansea came in with a massive offer of £120,000 per week to gazump them. Jack was told by one West Ham fan last year  ‘Look at Ayew, the board just let him go, why? Questions need to be asked’

Young Sullivan replied on twitter ‘”We offered 90k a week! Swansea offered 120k”

  1. Charlie stick to worrying about your overpriced Swiss midfielder or your panic buying of a German centre half and Ozil and Sanchez wanting away, Ayew will do just fine.

  2. If there was ever a player that never lived up to his hype it was Nicholas,
Seen so many replays of his few good bits ( half a dozen )
Then nothing and what gives him the right to make an opinion on our players,
Go back to Wenger and explain what he thinks he has got wrong,
Let our ex players run the rule over our players and wait till at least half way through the season and look at what Slav has done with his team,
Ayew will shine in this team especially if Slav plays our sort of football,
Bring on Monday and our first 3 points

  3. Just another gunner trying to play the mind games , expect them all to come out the woodwork now bubs ?
Fek/em, not worth the response ?
Hokycokey started a few days back , he’s just signed a contract with Disney as the official SHREK stand in ! Lol. 3 and six a month with bonus’s ( 17.5 p )

  4. Lawrenson and Nicholas – the Laurel and Hardy of punditry.

  5. I like Nicholas,he has always had good things to say about us,especially last season. When other mugs where giving us no credit he was heaping it on us.Sorry lads just saying it as I saw it 😀

  6. Why apologise 45 you’re right lol. When those monkeys on Soccer Saturday were asked who would qualify for the CL places he was the only one who said us.Yeah he was wrong but he still believd in us when the other tw#ts didn’t.

  7. If a pundit says good things, he’s obviously got superb judgement, and when he doesn’t, he’s an ignorant pr@t. Not rocket science, is it lads?

  8. Not at all, there are a few other pundits who don’t rate us so highly but I still respect their opinions. They have their view points which we might not like but that doesn’t mean I dislike them.It may be that cut & dried for you but not all of us.

  9. Well if Benteke is valued at 32m & McCormack can move in the Championship for 12m it is about right in this market isn’t it.Jordan Ibe 15m after doing little at the bin dippers. The figure seems reasonable to me.
