Niclas Fullkrug made no secret of his dissatisfaction with life at West Ham. Earlier in the season he’d spent months out injured and was rumoured to be desperate to get out of London having ‘not settled’. Indeed the 31 year old was linked with Juventus as he sought a hasty exit on loan, presumably as the rumours raged last month surrounding a head coach appointment of his nemesis Edin Terzic .

It seems that the ‘Fullkrug and Juventus’ story has taken another turn today as reported via sportwitness.co.uk and it appears good news at last for West Ham. Just as the German has discovered his fitness and his shooting boots it would seem that he’s not the prime target for the Italians:” A few hours ago, the sporting director of Juventus Cristiano Giuntoli had a conversation with the father of the German striker Niclas Füllkrug who plays for West Ham..The father takes care of the management of the player and Juve has put him on the waiting list. Why? Because the first name is Zirkzee from United.”

So Juventus are heading in another direction with Fullkrug now marked as a ‘possible’ rather than top choice. Good news for West Ham.

Perhaps now the ‘want-away’ rumours will abate and Fullkrug can get on and show us why Steidten shelled out a fortune for him and exactly what he is capable of achieving.

His hold up and link up play is exceptional. As is always the case with strikers of his type he just needs service. Unfortunately a lot of our progressive play in the final third comes through wing play and dribblers who like to go it alone and get off a shot themselves instead of passing to the striker in the middle

You don’t like the big German do you? “He spent months out injured” I don’t think he did that on purpose 😂

He’s just started scoring and has a massive point to prove. Why even think of letting him go. Give him service and he’ll get goals

This was another poor West Ham buy £27m + for a player who has been injured throughout his career.
Hope I’m wrong, but history suggests won’t be long before he joins the West Ham infirmary.

You are wrong to say that Fullkrug has always been injured during his career, or is injury-prone. You’ll have to make up another reason to blame poor player buying.

I thought that Fullkrug showed some good touches against city, looked significantly better. It has to be remembered that he has been injured and is still coming back from that. As always should be mentioned with regards to Fullkrug if we had paid a bit extra for Duran then Fullkrug would not be here, he was an “economising” decision.
