“No Brainer” | World Class Kante is Perfect For J-Lo

Like most other West Ham fans, I was completely taken aback to hear the news that French superstar midfielder N’Golo Kanté was close to signing for the club in a £20m deal.

It was one of those left-field transfer rumours that nobody really saw coming, and I am in two minds as to whether the transfer is a good idea or not. Therefore, I’ll attempt to argue the case in favour of the transfer in this blog and make the case against it later on.

It should be pointed out, of course, that this could just be idle transfer speculation; however, the claim is so absurd and random that it seems impossible to make up.

Anyway, the reasons for signing Kanté are obvious. As he proved during the recent European Championships, he remains a top-class midfielder who hasn’t lost his edge during his stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad. In short, the player is a world class footballer.

The former Chelsea star would undoubtedly improve West Ham’s first team and would have no trouble settling into both London and the pace of the Premier League. The signing of Kanté would allow the club to gradually develop players like Lewis Orford whilst also acquiring a first-team-ready player who would slot straight into the tactics of head coach Julen Lopetegui.

However, this particular signing has me very much in two minds; it’s a transfer where I can see both the good and the bad, which I will attempt to articulate later.

relax guys, this is obviously nonsense

look at all the press kantes agent has got from an absurd rumour

west ham has the best fans in the world at getting the word out for an agent

there is a reason we are linked with more players than any club in the world – it works and it costs nothing

    It’s rather we’d keep Downes!

Can’t believe what I’m reading, £20m for a 33 year old!! Ok, he’s still a decent player but £20m and sky high wages for maybe a year or 2 before he calls it a day. There’s better, cheaper, younger players out there, if we needed a player for his position, which we don’t. FFS get us a striker!!

Offer them £10m as still a very good player, will give Tim time to find a “Pearl” and to nurture them ready to step in.
In Tim & J-Lo we trust
    COYI

£20m way too much for a 33 year old that cost them nowt only 1 year ago. Thought we was looking for the Saudi’s to invest in WHU not the other way around 😉.
Honestly! Still a very good player, offer them £10m as it would give Tim time to find a “Pearl” and for the club to nurture them as a ready made replacement.

Great player BUT someone is going to have to explain how a 33 yo costs £20m? Because we all know they don’t.

  • Phil McDonald says:

Writing off £20m plus huge wages in the era of FFP is insanity, Is Sullivan playing games again?

  • Anon says:

This isn’t going to happen under cheapskate Sullivan and part time Brady

  • Joseph says:

Many scoffed at Fulham when they brought Willian back to the Prem he’s to old his legs had gone etc but you would be hard pressed to find a better player or professional than him and Kante is from the same mould……The money will not be a concern for him he has enough already so for me the he’s on £550 thousand is not a concern as he knows that aint happening…it will be purely for football reasons and the other thing he’s 33 well so what he showed that he still has the ability to get around the pitch and probably a lot better than Soucek or JWP so again another argument that for me falls down…and finally he has no sell on value well boo hoo the times the club has shafted itself with players nobody else wanted buy for silly money and now can’t sell for love nor money(Ings for starters)well this if its the case well the clubs eyes will be wide open on this for a change….the money manure want for McTominay makes this a better deal though a short term one at that.

    • Hammeroo says:

Thanks for that, Bennyboy Baker …. oops sorry, Joseph!
One looooong sentence without a breather, phew.

  • Matt says:

Kante is on £550k p/w in Saudi.

Are we going to offer him a Mini Cooper S and concession seating for his family to seal the deal 😂😂😂😂

  • Matt says:

“No Brainer” as in we would be out of our minds to sign him!

Forfana costs the same and we want Kante???!

Tell me it’s April Fools Day 🤣🤣🤣
