No complaints as Hammers splash big cash

David Moyes has got his man at a price of £25 million and £125k a week or £48 million over the four  year contract.

As is always the case in the summer window the doubters, knockers and cynics have been having a field day whilst there are those who consistently remind them to wait until the window closes.

Kurt Zouma has been a long time coming and there could still be some associated worries about the breaking of the club’s pay structure.

David Moyes, however, is not a manager who will – as we have heard many times – not buy for the sake of buying and it seems much is changing at board level.

Despite complications with the medical there was no attempt to change the deal – instead the board backed their boss who has his fingerprints all over this club now.

And in coughing up the fee and having the player sign that huge four year deal ears there can be few complaints.

It may also have shocked the rather odd PAI Capital bunch who claim they will be putting in a bid after the transfer window closes presumably in the belief there will be a few protestors getting as volatile as usual over the lack of signings.

Zouma is a great signing. Let’s just believe Moyes can keep the dressing room calm and – as he suggested – add a couple more before the window closes.

The Beeb reckon it’s 29.8 mill and no mention of wages. Maybe they’re thinking in Euros.
Didn’t Zouma normally play on the left at CB for Chelski? Would Oggy move to the right or is Zouma versatile?

As I have previously stated, I trust Moyes unequivocally and see him as the best manager this club has had since Johhny Lyall. I don’t feel that I need to paint any pictures regarding the board, as enough has been said and I have had a belly full of it as it is what it is.
There has been a lot of restlessness from supporters during this transfer window for obvious reasons, due to the lack of activity so far, including a little frustration from me. But, we all know that this has been down to Moyes and his due diligence in getting the RIGHT players in. Having had my patience tested during this period, this situation forced me to reassess my views on what an incoming transfer should do for the squad instead of the supporters, and I have concluded that Moyes knows Best.
As usual, there has been a few, who have tried to use our lack of transfer activity to attack the board who have respectfully held their tongues to protect the manager during this period. Moyes doesn’t sign players to pacify supporters as it’s all about getting the right players in. Further to that, I have to give the owners credit for the breaking of the wage structure to back Moyes, having taken a few big hits recently with Anderson, Haller, Wilshere etc.
I also don’t care much for those PAI(TY) Poopers who are clearly a bunch of chancers and I do wonder what their next move will be now?

I agree on one thing in this article, we will wait till the end of the window to make a decision on our summer transfer activity. However with 3 days to go it looks like at this moment it has been a complete failure. We lost 2 players from an already small squad last summer, Balbuena and Lingard. We have signed Zouma and he is better than Balbuena but I am not sure he is much better than Diop. Yes we have signed Areola who is 100% better than Randolph and potential better than Fab. However we have signed no striker, no attacking midflelder, no midfielder, no cover at LB which were the bare minimum requirements. We have also not shipped out players like Reid, Yarmo and Fredericks. The minimum we need between now and next Tuesday to make this an acceptable window is 3 players, a player who can play as a 9 or 10, a pacey wide player and cover at LB. I really hope we do not sign Lingard as he will never produce for us what he produced last season. I saw links last night to Hlozek and I said WOW !! The fans expect the club to sign top exciting young talent (not the likes of Lingard) and if the club fail to sign one exciting player this window it will be a failure on Moyes full stop. I cant blame Rice or Soucek or any of our top players wanting to leave now.
