No excuses Moyesie, only a win will do

Only a win will do against the EPL’s worst team

Hammers’ manager David Moyes faces a tactical test against Sheffield United this afternoon.

The Blades are statistically the worst team in the Premier League, winning only 10% of their games. Any side with serious ambitions of European football should be winning such a game, but it won’t be that easy.

With Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, and possibly Jarrod Bowen injured, the Hammers’ gaffer will have to think on his feet. Factor in the absence of Mohammed Kudus, and there is a paucity of options in attack.

West Ham-David Moyes has a decision to make following injury news

Only a win will do for Moyes against The Blades

Moyes’s substitutes are either unavailable or ineffective, but I have no sympathy for him on that score. £440M in transfer fees and four years at the club should be plenty to build a competent squad. Factor in some of the most outstanding youngsters in the country via a thriving academy, and it’s plain to see that the assets at Moyes’s disposal would be the envy of most managers in Europe.

So, he needs to get something at Bramall Lane today. Opportunity knocks for West Ham as we sit 6th in the Premier League and can move within three points of Spurs. No excuses, just a win (no matter how ugly) will do
