No January spending: Fans have their say

|

West Ham have no money to spend in the January window and will have to move players out to bring new ones in.

ClaretandHugh has reported on several occasions that the club is potless until the summer and up to the limit on FFP – a story confirmed by the Mirror today.

The issue has been a discussion point on the ClaretandHugh facebook page. Here’s what forum members are saying:

Graham Herbert

Graham Herbert Don’t want to be negative, but I feel that’s our season over really. Wont get relegated but unlikely to get into Europe now. Ironic, as this season is probably the most open that the Premiership has EVER been! Maybe a bit of a cup run will cheer me up! smile emoticon

Chris Denning
Chris Denning Okay, going to try and look at this from a positive angle. The players injured are of the attacking kind. The games we have lost, but I believe, should have got a result were games where I feel we pushed too hard to win rather than take control of the game first. With all the tough, powerful midfield players still fit, the twist here might be that, like with the Man U game, we play a more controlled, defensive style. Wouldn’t it be great to find that for the next couple of months, we find the defence and midfield hold strong for every 90 minutes and Carroll starts to sneak in a goal here and there. Stranger things have happened

Nick Gilbert
Nick Gilbert I think the games we have lost have been down to bad defending. For a few weeks we may be without the attacking flair we have come to expect bit I would anticipate a lot of 0-0 and 1-0 score lines as we grind out points. It’s not going to be pretty but I trust in Slav. On another note, to attack the ownership over injuries citing Chadwell Heath and/or the medical staff is ludicrous. They have done all they can to improve these aspects of the club. However once again I question their ability to carry us onward and upward. We need more investment available for players for situations such as this which means passing over some control to third parties. Egos may end up getting in the way of success

Bah…this is just a bit of bad luck, that’s all. We have players giving their all and getting knocked or strains because of it. Saying our season is “over” is a bit of hyperbole.

We don’t need to be silly in January, we have assets that will step up and prove themselves. We have a good squad. Maybe any dreams of finishing top four are shattered (or…well, maybe not!) We are marching on. COYI!
