Łukasz Fabiański has lifted the lid on the highly demanding training regime under Julen Lopetegui, which he has described as his toughest ever.

While much has been made about Lopetegui’s approachability, friendliness, and communication, there is a steeliness about him, and the players know they have to work hard.

J-Lo and his team of coaches are ensuring the West Ham squad begins the season at peak fitness, and 39-year-old Fabiański admits that he’s never worked as hard.

“It’s gone by so quickly, if I am honest with you,” Fabiański told the Hammers media team, “I am just glad to be playing at this level after over 20 years in professional football. I’m happy to still be involved.

Cream Crackered: Fabianski has never worked harder

“It’s obviously been a long career, but I am very happy to be a part of it, and in a way, I feel good and am looking forward to seeing what the upcoming season brings. There is a lot of excitement around at the moment because we have a new head coach and new coaching staff.

“Pre-season has been very demanding, and I have to say it is one of the most demanding pre-seasons in my career, but I’m not sure if that is down to my age or just in general! There has been a lot of hard work, but also enjoyable work, as all of the things we are doing are good and there’s an idea behind it all. This is what pre-season is for, and hopefully, it will help us have a really good season.

“Even now, with a change of head coach, there is a different way of training, but I feel as if I’m still up to the standards and level. I love this sport and enjoy being out there, so I’m ready to do my best, give my all, and be the consistent player that I have been for the past few years.”

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Am I the only one who thinks we are bidding for everyone but buying no one. Nervous.

Well done and well said Fab…Hope you can continue to be atop keeper for us….if all the players had the same attitude it would bode well for a good season…would love to see us sign a decent striker and a few more addidtions…striker is the priority for me though…a natural centre forward that can hold up play…make probing runs and finish with his head and both feet…must be one around ?
