It’s a very sad day indeed when you need to spell out the obvious concerning a person who has been loyal and true from the start.
It becomes even worse when you need to say it to a Premier League manager who should have seen what every fan can see.
Sadly, so sadly Mark Noble’s day is done!
And if David Moyes chooses to go blindingly down the same route by choosing him for upcoming games then – and this is from a guy who loathes the hatred thrown about on social media as most know – David Moyes will deserve every word of criticism he receives.
The game against Brighton showed as clearly as the one against Palace that Mark Noble’s has no place in a starting line up and that if it were any other player approaching the end of his contract there would certainly not be a new one on offer.
That is not me attempting to be brutal towards a guy who is more West Ham than any one of us – it’s the simple truth based on performance levels.
His time has come and I am at a loss to understand what role he is even being asked to fulfil by a manager who seems to have developed a total blind spot on the man.
Can anyone out there tell me please – I’m listening.
Declan was giving him the ball on the vast majority of occasions he called for it yesterday and as a result, the play became slower and slower – some distance from the situation when Declan and Tomas call the shots in there.
It’s so hard to say this but if Moyes continues to include a player who clearly can no longer do it he is in danger of bringing an illustrious Hammers career to the most embarrassing of endings.
That really would be a cruel ending for a great Hammer. It must not be allowed to happen.
Completely agree with Hammerpete and Wilf.
Let’s not start the haters off.
I’m pretty sure that if DM sat down and chatted things over with MN, Mark would be convinced of the need for him to stand down for the good of the club and himself. He could perform a backroom role perhaps, instilling the love of WHU in rising players. He’s done a brilliant job – carried us at times – but now it’s time for him to hang up his boots, sadly.
I remember when Julian Dicks was coming to the end of his career and after a few horrible injuries, Charlton targeted him and beat us 4 – 2 from them being 1 – 2 down – it was very sad and we wouldn’t want Noble to go through that
Even Kevin Nolan in his last season was no longer worth a starting spot – it happens to all footballers
With Noble the baffling thing is why Moyes chose him when he obviously had alternatives
He has been a great servant to the club, but did anyone see how Manchester United dealt with an out of form and injured Martial ? Leaving him on with a clear injury and then taking him off grudgingly and let him hobble off on his own. You are only as good as your last good performance at successful clubs. Okay, we are better than that, but we cannot afford to be sentimental if we want Europe.
Give him a job at the club where he will be of great use, or let him go on a free to a small club down a division and where he will be great.
Nobes could still do a job in certain games. Yesterday moyes admitted that he’d made a mistake not to include more creativity in midfield. At least he was big enough to admit in his press conference that in hindsight it was a mistake. How many managers have we had who actually come out and admit they got it wrong? Couldn’t see someone like allardyce doing that. No need to hammmer moyes in my opinion. We all make mistakes and this is the only game he’s got it wrong in my opinion since he’s been our manager. Anyone would think we’d lost the game six nil or something going by the reaction. I don’t consider hammering Noble and saying that all of a sudden he can’t play is entirely fair either since last season he was probably one of our best players. He played alright against Chelsea but since he hasn’t played all season I don’t think he was ready for back to back games.
You make some really good points here. Good to know I’m not the only one who sees things this way.
Sadly it is so, Hugh. Mr Moyes must save Mark from himself. Nobes will always try, never give up, and that is in itself a problem, because he can’t do it any more. It’s clear his body won’t obey his mind, you must stand down Mark. Mr Moyes – drop Nobes, because he no longer can, and drop Haller, because he never will!
The Manager must take Full Responsibility! the first half was completely embarrassing! everyone except the manager could see that! why would you line up in the midfield like that, that is not a role Noble would ever play, again he takes the stick! but even Rice was little better, and most ratings only gave Declan 1 point higher than Noble at 6! You look at the manager he is just so grey and so serious all the time, he looks as if all the world is on his shoulder! A few weeks ago the talk was a 3-year contract extension for him! Hold on! so many were calling for his head last night.
I am afraid that Noble is already an embarassment . He should have been replaced 12 months ago . His performances this season have all been dire and , if it is possible , getting worse . When he plays everything slows down to a snails pace and we are playing a man short . Declan ‘s performances are affected as he covers for Noble and his leadership is missed badly . . Unfortunately Moyes has not got the balls to tell him his time is up or the vision to recognise the non performance on the pitch .
And even worse, the manager deliberately benched a player who plays in that position and would have speeded up play.
I’ve been a Moyes advocate, but this is just bonkers. He’s obviously been on the Christmas sherry.
