Nobes has done all his homework

Mark Noble has landed the job of which has been dreaming since entering the twilight of his career. And as sporting director of his beloved Hammers he has made sure that plenty of homework has gone into things ahead of being appointed.

Not many will be blaming GSBK for offering Nobes a job which some may believe needs more experience than he has to offer – a possible criticism that the former captain has been very keen to answer,

He will return to the club in January after his emotional farewell last season with the club making it clear he will be involved in very important duties after making 550 senior appearances across 18 years in a Claret and Blue shirt.

West Ham made it clear Noble will be heavily involved in key aspects of the club including transfers and recruitment.

“I’ve looked a lot at what goes on in a football club,” Noble told West Ham TV.

“I’ve spent time at Havard in Boston on a business, entertainment, media and sports programme, which I found incredibly enjoyable but also a massive learning curve for me, to meet some fantastic people around the world in that degree.

“But it’s a position I always thought I’d enjoy and always wanted, and I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity…

“I sat down with (vice-chairman) Karren (Brady) and she asked me to fulfil this role, she said ‘Look I’m not offering you this role because you’re Mark Noble, I’m offering you it because you’re best suited to what we need’…

“I won’t be coming in with vast experience in this role, of course not. With the experience I’ve got, not just in business, but the football club, I’m pretty sure I’ll learn quickly.”

Nobody deserves this opportunity more
