Noble catches Lewington eye

Nobes

Roy Hodgson’s No 2 Ray Lewington spent Saturday afternoon at the Boleyn and went away impressed with the form of Mark Noble.

ClaretandHugh understands he had been assigned to watch the form of Southampton’s trio Adam Lallana,  Rickie Lambert and  Jay Rodriguez  as the Hammers beat the south coast 3-1 to record their fourth win on the bounce.

But as the Irons’ surge continues, so the form of Noble gets better and better and he may be emerging as the World Cup hope so  many in these parts have been tipping him to become.

Once again the club loyalist covered every blade of grass and at times produced some brilliant footwork which saw him forced to earth by desperate defenders.

Lewington went away impressed according to sources and with several months to go, a strong finish to the season could see the club loyalist force his way into Hodgson’s plans.

A source said: “Ray was impressed. More of that and who knows what may happen.”
