Hammers captain Mark Noble has been dropped while Manuel Lanzini gets his first start since injury. Inform Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku have to make do with the bench as Andy Carroll starts up front with Hernandez. Sky are predicting a 4-4-2 formation but we will wait and see.
West Ham: Hart; Zabaleta, Reid, Fonte, Cresswell; Antonio, Kouyate, Lanzini, Arnautovic; Carroll, Hernandez.
Subs: Adrian, Masuaku, Ogbonna, Obiang, Noble, Ayew, Sakho.
West Ham have won their last five games against Burnley in all competitions, including four in the Premier League. Burnley have scored in 25 of their 26 top-flight home matches against West Ham, the only exception being a 0-0 draw in February 1928.
West Ham are yet to win in four away league games this campaign (D1, L3) and have conceded 10 goals in the process. Six of West Ham’s seven league goals in 2017-18 have come in the second half, which is a league-high.
The Hammers have registered three clean sheets in their last four league games, after managing none in the previous five.
Well thats probably the most attacking team we could put out, and I imagine the team Bilic always wanted to play. A bit weak in the middle of midfield though
It is a very positive team assuming it is 4-4-2. I would have included Sakho but this is a great opportunity for Carroll, if he cannot score with this line up, it will be time for Sakho. I hope Bilic’s anti sakho thoughts does not lead to him bringing on Ayew ahead of Sakho. I hope we go an win 2-0, Carroll with the first and Sakho with the second.
Doesn’t appear to be any balance in that team. No holding midfielders I can’t see arnie tracking back either, I can see lots of holes between midfield and defence. Looks another panic move by Bilic, fingers crossed it pays off.
+1 😉 , 3-5-2 for me with cresswell and carrol dropped for obiang and sakho !
As you say let’s see.
Listening live on Radio commentator says both were yellow cards yet he also says Carroll was only looking at ball so not quite sure how that is possible to give a yellow let alone a red for two, if it is the case shows that Attwell is another incompetent PL ref.
I am watching the game. Complete nonsense from this referee. The first yellow wasn’t one. The second is a result of Mee’s theatrics, to get Carroll off. Congratulations to Mee for this shameful attitude and behaviour. And bad handling of the ref. You don’t give two yellows in less than two minutes unless the player is really acting in an outrageous manner. In summary, this ref and Mee spoiled what looked like a very promising match.
Them truth is if a yellow is warranted each time there is an air ball challenge (and you simply cannot jump with elbows glued to side), all matches will end only with 7-8 players on pitch.
Is the ref following new norms or has he just made one up ?
Perhaps the sending off was harsh but it all comes back to Bilic’s persistence in playing Carroll. He should not have started today – I have no sympathy for Bilic. IMO he is ignoring players who are performing better than others and if we end up losing this game he still has to be held responsible as Carroll is simply not good enough to start in this team and he should know that – he sees the players day in day out so if he cant see he should not be in a job.
I’m watching and the second was a card , leading with you’re elbow is asking for trouble , he got booked just before that but wasn’t a card IMO , funny how the ref missed the elbow in the back of his head just before kouate got a free kick against him ! This ref is a clown !
Lanzini and Arnie are not doing enough and once again i t looks like we are lethargic ,
Carroll done us all a favour , you don’t have to get injured to not play ! Bang off form and should never have been on the park in the first place. Just another shyte decision by bilic ?
The pea needs pulling now and sakho to run the channels IMO as the pea can’t do it !
Cheers poppodom , now we will see sakho and pea start you nobb😤 we also need obiang on to shore up the middle ! Kouyate can’t handle it on his own!😉
