Nolan future under review

NolanWest Ham look ready to allow Kevin Nolan to move on from the club in the summer.

The Irons captain hits his 33rd birthday in June and with a year left on the five year deal he signed in 2011 the club are ready to allow him a move if they receive a suitable offer.

Nolan’s position in the team has been the subject of long term controversy but at 33 the club believe this is the time to reward his loyalty by allowing him the chance of making a lucrative move if they receive the right offer.

Nolan arrived from Newcastle on a five year deal worth a reported £50,000 a week which over five years would have grossed him £12 million. The transfer fee involved was £4 million.

However, a well placed Hammers source said: “We are looking to the future and will be looking to sign young energetic players.

“Kevin has been a great player for the club but the summer will be a critical time for various members of the squad – nothing is for ever!”

  1. He can’t bugger off soon enough for me! 👿

  2. It’s really strange, the team is in their best position for donkeys years but there is real negativity from us punters towards BFS and in particularly, Kevin Nolan.

I see both BFS and Nolan as workmanlike but not really top-class, their best days are behind them and the sooner they move on the better for all parties concerned.

The big question is who do they replace BFS with?

  3. This will be a real positive for the club.Fair play, the guy did the business for us when needed to get us back into the Prem, but this year he is clearly a hinderance not a help to the team.Maybe Sam will sign him again at his new club if we are fortunate enough to be rid of both of them in the summer 😉

  4. only problem i have is with Hugh i remember last year him telling us that SAM was gonna get sacked and he didn’t so this story probably gonna end up the same as last time, with BFS still at the club next year with his lover boy Nolan on his hip….

  5. How much are we going to pay someone to take him away?
Fair play to him if he can find another club after this years performances,
Hugh he will only go if BFS goes as well we all know that,

  6. Wishful thinking I feel.
As the stats state. A 33% win ratio with him in the team. A 66% without him.
A big statement will be made if Valencia and Sakho start against Manu and Nolan included.
This will mean that he is going to play every game until the end of the season.
We will be lucky to finish 8th if this continues and have no chance of the winning the cup if we don’t field our best team.

  7. Michael Miller, the replacement is obvious SLAVEN BILIC he wants it and he will bring the style of football we need and he is a global name who will attract some great players for our entry into the OS & Europe.
He has experience with Besiktas in Europe and would come with a great pedigree and he is an ex hammer what more could we want. COYI

  8. Best news i have herd this year, lets just hope he is a benchwarmer for the rest of the season. This is a great time to give poyet some more playing time.COYI

  9. If this story & quotes are true then that they want younger more energetic players then it is a basic admission to the fact that Nolan cant hack it anymore, that his legs have gone.So it is almost beyond belief that he is one of the first names on the team sheet.Anyone could step into the team & contribute more than he does at the moment.Because of Sams stubborness the season now looks like it will end in middle table mediocrity, now is the time to give Poyet some game time, but im sure come sunday Nolans name will be on the team sheet.

  10. only way Nolan will leave is if BFS time is up too. Think this story might just be to butter us fans up. As for new signings – before the Jan window we were told, only young players……now we are told, only young players…..actual facts – we tried to sign Distin and Fletcher with a combined age of 68! Come on G&S – your signings pre season were brilliant . you dropped the ball in January.

  11. yes I think Poyet should come of the bench from now to the end of the season see if he got it and get him ready for next year could end up saving us a lot of money if he can cut it

  12. He needs to move on but I will be sad in away to see him go as he has been excellent for us in previous seasons but he is no longer good enough, how about signing me!

  13. It’s a no brainer.Blood Poyet,Burke etc and you really don’t have to spend all that much in the summer. There are quite a few on the current list besides Nolan who have to go.Great servants that got us back into the Premier League but who shouldn’t be on our list anymore.I see Jenkinson & Song as priorities. These players will attract the better players to want to come to West Ham.The time has come for new thinking at the top and a better deal than what we are now getting. On your bike Sam!

  14. Nows the time to blood the younger players even we cant get relegated from this position!
As much as we hope for champions league football its not going to happen and do we really want to qualify for the europa league and find our squad not big or strong enough to compete twice weekly next season and end up struggling near the bottom of the table ( like Hull and Everton).
Lets see poyet, burke , oxford and the rest given a chance when we get injurys to the established players.
It would lift the whole atmosphere and stop any negativity, were always willing to give the young homegrown players more leeway if they make any mistakes.
How many times can we actually sit back and relax knowing we will be playing premier league football next season with so many games left.
I for one would like to see Hoddle as next manager ,speaks a lot of sense and think he would get us playing the attacking style we all wish for.

  15. A suitable offer, any offer including one where we pay them and drive him to the airport would be acceptable imo
