Norwich v Irons – the fans react

Hammers fans have been discussing yesterday’s ‘disappointing’ result at Norwich.

Here’s what several of them had to say at the ClaretandHugh forum and  Facebook Group.

michail-antonio-west-ham-stoke_3387473O Antonio and Enner looked absolutely knackered from Tuesday

O Not beating any of the bottom five teams away is quite bad. By my reckoning that is 11 points lost. Motivation problems when facing so called smaller teams

O Moses showed real hunger and application that I haven’t seen from him for a long while. The bench (and injury time out) appears to have given him extra motivation. Poor Song seemed to have lost his way totally these days.

O I think Noble will finally be acknowledged as being a much better some think he is. At the beginning of the season I wrote that he was going to have his best ever season under this new manager. Slowly but surely, it is happening.
The one who disappointed me though was Emenike. Slow to react, slow to run, slow to score. Looked completely out of shape.

O Really disappointing result that. We need to be taking advantage of the weaker teams not dropping points against them. Great to come back from 2 down, but we never looked like scoring before Payet put that one in.

O Why is Emenike not just throwing himself in front of the ball? 3 yards out?!

O We were losing 2-0 , came back to draw 2-2 after 120 minutes in mid-week. Confounded Mark Lawrenson’s prediction AGAIN ! Showed fight and heart something that Lawrenson can’t calculate. Mark Noble scored and people are Moaning ?

  1. All good comments ! But what I cant understand this not turning up for the 1st half..When we start fast like against city we put them on the back foot.. when we play like we did against Newcastle and some other games were always chasing. If we can play like we did for the last half an hour against Norwich why can’t we do that for the 1st hour??

  2. Ah, the eternal ?that some of us have been asking for far longer than this season and one which no WH manager has been able to cure yet.
Any chance of us finishing higher than 8th. Depends on Sakho and Lanzini coming back to their pre-injury form very quickly, a long shot. That’s why the cup is now our best short of a bit of glory this year.

  3. West Ham have gone from conceding in the last minutes to scoring in the last minutes .
Sometimes we fly out of the blocks and sometimes the spikes get stuck .
All pretty difficult to take in , really . We are certainly seeing a different West Ham this season ,, but is it different enough ?. Sure , all the injuries are causing constant changes to how we play . I half expected a draw against Norwich . It’s not what we wanted obviously , but Norwich are fighting against relegation so it was always going to be difficult . It does is annoying though , that we have not taken enough points from the lower clubs . If we slip any further down the table Europe will seem a million miles away with only the FA Cup to keep our hopes alive .. But , with some players returning from injury I think we will make it .
I’m still very optimistic of a strong last 12 games .
