West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal was missing from the weekend match day squad after suffering from a hamstring strain earlier in the week.

Coufal is unlikely to be declared fit for the trip to North London to face Arsenal this weekend and reports suggest he will also miss the Leicester City home game too meaning he might not return until the Hammers home game at the London Stadium against Newcastle United on 10 March.

Whilst his absence might not seem to impact the squad too much, it does limit the Hammers options given that Graham Potter has used the Czech defender to cover the error prone Dinos Mavropanos.

The 32-year-old  Hammer is out of contract in June this year but is desperate to extend his stay at West Ham and finish his top flight professional career as a Hammer.

He will want to prove to Potter that he can remain a useful squad player next season after signing for the Hammers five years ago in 2o20.

The right-back is reported to earn £30,000 per week making him one of the most cost-effective players in the current squad.

Many Premier League teams are having massive injury crises . The amount of matches played and vigor required to perform in the top world league is devastating players . Under LOSEpetegui Westham suffered very few injuries on account of not running around and competing much . Under Potter a few more injuries is making a thin squad suffer . Westham are in desperate financial trouble by virtue of no Euro games (10 million loss ) , a likely very low league finish ( 3 million loss per place ie 24 million loss ) and very poor signings ( about 100 million loss ) .. Potter is going to have to retain low budget players for next season because Westham can’t afford much .

Maybe the injury crisis’ being experienced across the league, may have something to do with the way the game is played nowadays, with weak officiating wanting to ‘let the game flow’, and players coached into professional fouling in a way that wasn’t accepted 20/30 years ago, the attrition of fit/healthy players is an inevitable consequence.

This is not an injury curse Our squad is not fit enough and to old as simple as that So more injuries arise

Couldn’t agree more…I’ve not posted for a while simply because it’s just doom and gloom….and like you say the way the squad is after not even strengthening in the window…you just expect bad news in any form on here..hence why I’ve stayed of ..life’s hard enough without seeing your team slowly dragged in to the relagation fight ….people are thinking we are safe and the season is just over …but we could get in trouble for sure…moyes sending us down is just like west ham ….us instead of Everton..things change quickly…i was a moyes out …but just saying…
